Thank you for your nice, first two banks review Brian!bmrzycki wrote:I finally had a chance this weekend to sit down and play with hollo's soundset. My initial impressions are:
1. A lot of time went into these sounds
2. I can't play nearly as well as hollo does in his demos
I only got through the first two banks: "Ambient" and "Warm". And boy, they are exactly that. There aren't a lot of presets in each (about 10 in each category). What is there in abundance is craft and detail. Each sound made me pause and explore the sound. Easily my favorite was "Drop & After" (I think that was the name). I got lost in that sound for over and hour with the performance controls.
I'm really looking forward to my next block of time with Zebra, it'll certainly include more exploration of these beautiful sounds.
If you're looking for inspiring sounds this preset bank definitely did it for me. I'm hoping there's a Padsheaven 2 in the works!
I was hoping for this kind of pause and explore feedback.
I was adressing the keyboardist players with those performance
controls: Pith Bend, Modwheel, Velocity and Aftertouch is
always there in reach. I mostly changed the Pitch Bend, to do more useful controls for pads, than pitch. (speed of animation,
attack time, filters etc..)

Maybe i misunderstood your words and after trance_lucent
comment, i made a little homework: i was adding the preset
names to the demo 2 track, so everyone can find the right
sounds. If you load them you'll get the same sound as in the
demo track.

Then i found your second comment:

(By the way, I meant in #2 above that hollo is a very good musician. Even in my clumsy hands these sounds are amazing. They make me want to learn to play better. )
I'm really looking forward to your next block of time with Zebra!
