Been a while since i made some noise around here :) Was planning to return when Zebra 3 was released but that bugger seems to pull some tooths and leave us here with our hands in our laps. However i took Z2 for a spin for a new synthesis concept i'm working on and this is the result:

Can you say Ahhhhhh :P

Michael any plans for some presets for Diva 1.3? I have simply replaced the uhbie filter in some of your diva factory presets and it took already great presets to a completely different level.

FORMANTS! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

Sweet demo and proof-of-concept. The voice sounds especially nice high up (which is where most synths doing complex modulation can fall flat on their face).

After some trial and error i found that a good clean "ah" needs at least 4 filters, 5 filters is better since it will improve the lower keys. Anyways 4 filters can do it pretty nice with Z2, the hard work is finding the frequencies which will give the fullest formant spread over the keys. Using additive synthesis will only lead to chipmonks, just like playing a sample of a voice, so it have to be filters through the use of frequencies, resonance and keyfollow. Having ZERO keyfollow will make it sound more like a vocoder voice.

So far i've made this preset on Kurzweil PC361 (this one is crazy because it can layer 32! filters), Reason NNXT and a synth in development. So this should be doable on any synth that allows at least 4 filters to control a SAW waveform.

Got the idea from a vocoder preset i made in Reason Parsec and was wondering, what if i picked out the most essential frequencies and re-created it using filters.

So as you properly have guessed i'm into my formant period :hihi:
