DIVA - modulating parameters in two directions

I'm looking for a way to modulate a control knob to the + OR - side, by moving a MIDI knob/slide/wheel up or down. Specifically, I'd like to have my mod wheel set in the center and go down for - and up for + on the filter cutoff.

I've been able to achieve this with the pitch wheel, but it's not a long-term solution because I'd like to reserve that for changing pitch.

Any ideas?

Just lower the filter cutoff by half of the modulation range.

X ± Y is the same as (X - Y) + 2Y.
