you definitely need to upload that siren preset.

CPU ise in FL Studio 11.1.1 is unreasonably high, way higher than Zebra 2 for simple patches. Around 40 - 50 % in Task Manager for a simple HIVE only project while Zebra 2 tends to use around 5 - 10 % for patch with 2 modulated oscillators set to 11 and 2 filters with some resonance. Both patches set to 3 notes sounding at the same time so it would be comparable. 32-bit Hive in 32-bit host on 64-bit Windows 7. Old faithful 2-core machinery with 4 gigabytes of ram, if that matters.

Thanks to those sharing patches again. I don't think it would be good for Hive to sound exactly like Sylenth (I don't think it does), I already own Sylenth.

I'm quite relieved that the initial - and sometimes exhausting - discussion about whether or not Hive can/will/must replace/imitate/outdo Sylenth has died down. This took two weeks. That's a good sign. I'm sure it'll pop up in irregular intervals thoughaaron aardvark wrote:I don't think it would be good for Hive to sound exactly like Sylenth
Hmm, maybe I'll bookmark this post and link to it whenever such a thread appears - maybe I can trick people into thinking that we had this planned all along!

Now lets turn to ,,Hive replaces Zebra''... oh, that was u-He synth too.
Jokes aside, i am throwing in Presets before release too.
Thanks Urs.

Some sounds I made using Hive.
Note that only one sound uses internal delay. (the random lfo resonance sound) and only one preset uses internal chorus (the 2nd brass sound)
All other sounds use no modulation, delay, or reverb effects.
About half of these sounds don't use the fx section at all.
No external effects.

Made a more than 40 sounds for U-He Hive soundset.
Will be a 64 Trance sounds, basses, leads, plucks, pads..
just a very quik demo of what im doing...here is a deep Hive bass that will be in the pack:
https://soundcloud.com/natlife/natlife- ... serum-lead
and very first lead i made here:

I will do a demo from the pack very soon, so be sure - this will be more than massive;)
cheers

I don't know about unreasonably high but it's certainly not low on the 2 computers I tested. FL11 64bits on windows 7/8.V-GER wrote:CPU ise in FL Studio 11.1.1 is unreasonably high
For example the Super Groove preset takes 3% idling, 15% playing the sequence and 20% at 8 polyphony of an i5 3570.
Is there a known issue at U-He HQ for FL11 windows users or is this kind of performance considered low cpu ?

Just wanted to mention CPU use in FL Studio 11 at least got a lot better and more stable with the latest update, reduced to less than half of what the previous version gobbled up. I still find it high compared to most of my other synths, though the ones I've compared it to offer from 11 to 16 unison voices and they're a bit older.
But in Reaper 4.76 Hive uses roughly between less than half to around one quarter of the CPU it burns of in FL Studio 11.1.1 on the same old 2 core computer though - mysterious stuff.
64-bit Windows 7 here, 32-bit Hive and hosts. Task Manager is used to monitor CPU use.
Offcourse I use a blank default project and only add a single instance of Hive. The default FL Studio project includes a simple limiter on the masterchannel for precaution only, it hardly ever limits anything unless extreme stuff happens.
I always make a simple patch from scratch with 13 voice unison on both oscillators (for random reasons, that just happened to be what I used initially), both oscillators and subs activated and going through filter one BPF with high resonance, filter 1 into filter 2 LPF with some resonance, a little bith of PWM on pulsewaves in both oscillators (LFO 1 for osc 1 and LFO 2 for osc 2). I'd think this should make for comparable patches, right? I'll try to stick to some factory patch for reference in the future though, if needed.
GHOST19: if you've got the time and energy for it perhaps you could download the latest demo of Reaper from http://reaper.fm/ and compare CPU use there? I wonder if it's consistent for other users that it uses more CPU in FL Studio 11.1.1 than Reaper 4.76 on the same computer.

I compared with savihost where it's just slightly better. It's still 2x the CPU of Sylenth and 4 or 5 times Dune BE, not that bad but I expected better as it's not an improvement on most my synths in this aspect. However on both hosts clicking the built-in Hive keyboard really drives the CPU crazy, something buggy here.

FL Studio 11.1.0... 42 instances of Hive, and nothing else... just saying (CPU never reached 50%, on a i7 2600... which is old by today's standards already):

Win 7 x64, only 4 gb of ram. Forget about the song of course, this is about CPU use. I used as may voices as i liked, ie, if i wanted something super sawwy, OSC1 and , straight to 16 x. Didn't mess about. I think Hive's pretty good on CPU

Bizarre, with the previous version of Hive I've had one single instance reach 50 % on my 2 core I7 which also has 4 Gig ram... Better now but no way I could reach 42 instances with a hit of 20 - 30 % for simple three note chords. I cloned Hive and fed it the same simple pattern from a "MIDI Out" module and by 3 instances I had passed 50 %... Other u-he plugins are very well behaved in FL Studio 11.1.1 though, Zebra 2 with 2 oscs set to 11 detuned voices thorugh 2 filters use way less CPU. Strange only some of us has whatever this issue can be.GeorgeZ wrote:FL Studio 11.1.0... 42 instances of Hive, and nothing else... just saying (CPU never reached 50%, on a i7 2600... which is old by today's standards already):
