Here's a quick attempt at it, should be close enough for you to finish how you want. :)

Thanks, I also tried to copy the knob settings from Arturia to RP5 and noticed that noise level and release times are totally different.... ;)

Back on the subject of Talking Heads synth sounds, Reverb put a video out on This Must Be Place (Naive Melody) also from Speaking in Tongues.

Video Here:

Article (with Ableton and Logic projects) here:

The video is done with a Prophet 6, but should offer enough close-ups to get you in the ballpark with RePro-5.

FET and others,
Thank you for sharing; though I have not tried to copy the settings as of yet. Not sure I have the patience. Has anyone tried it yet?

Hi Aaron, these aren't 100% spot on (and two presets have variations as a second preset) but try these out. He doesn't go into much detail in the video about anything other than osc settings, so the amp envelopes, filter, etc. is just me trying to get in the ballpark. He's also using a Prophet 6 which is considerably different than the P5 Rev3.

Would love it if someone could improve upon these. Particularly that poly flute/steel drum/brass sound. I approximated the preset in the video, but I feel like the album version sounds more brassy and bright while still being mellow (if that makes sense). Has it been layered on the record or am I just way off?

Something hit me tonight regarding the Talking Heads "Burning Down the House" Prophet 5 lead synth with Boss T-Wah pedal sound. I tried a Kuassa wah-wah plug-in earlier with a Prophet sound lead synth, but didn't get the sound I wanted. I own Line 6 Helix Native software (I am also a guitar player), which has wah-wah effects. I should try that with Repro-5; anybody try that yet?

I can't seem to nail the leads from this track, is anybody game to try it. They sound brighter higher up, and duller further down the keys.

Give it a shot and report back. Speaking in Tongues is their best album and I love that there's Prophet all over it.

Well, I tried the Line 6 Helix Native wah-wah (virtual) pedals (several of them, all of them, one at a time) on one of my favorite Repro-5 lead synth sounds. I can't say those wah-wahs sounded very impressive on Repro-5. Years ago, I used a real Dunlop Cry-Baby wah-wah pedal on a real Sequential Circuits Pro-One, and it sounded pretty good, though not like the Talking Heads "Burning Down the House" lead synth sound.

Edit: I was looking at a Line 6 forum thread about the Helix wah-wahs. Some people got better results by adjusting the wah effect so it can only be about 50 to 75% of the mix amount. Maybe I'll try it again later.
