The KM looks interesting, having trouble grasping its use for patch programming though (general DAW operation I get). I'll see if I can test drive one around here.

It's pretty straight forward. The knob acts like a mousewheel. Just move your mouse over a knob in Zebra/Diva/etc and turn the knob. That's it. If you want fine control you hit one of the white buttons on the KM before turning the knob to do fine adjustments.
Feel free to call me Brian.

Imo this is the best controler for vsts

+1 for the Panorama P1
PhasePhckr (modular MPE VSTi) G+
Fatar88Lux (dyi MIDI brain) bitbucket
Assault Opera - sound cloud | spotify

got the P4 as my main controller (also 16 rotary encoders, 9 faders and transport controls, like the P1). Mapping the 8 encoders above the faders is a bitch (keeps sending cc1 alongside cc30something etc).
Otherwise it works really well.

I have an IBK 10 Control
was away ahead of its time and still better than most.
High resolution rotary encoders, the speed you turn the knob effects the parameter range it covers, backlit LCD displays for each encoder.
Quality metal enclosure and Bukit like a tank, mine still looks like new

Amazon: why not use an alternative

The kontrol-master features can easely be done with a $45 PowerMate USB (by Griffin).
I have this working in Ableton with U-He's VST. Wonderfull! Higly recommended.

A Roland system 1m might a better idea than a virus for controlling, it has more knobs.

Are you using a system 1m in that scenario, Rod? How's it holding up (knob quality & spacing, how practical is changing CCs on the 1m itself etc)?

Sounds good, but not enough knobs for the real estate it uses.

@Augren regarding the P4,

If you controller send 2 different CC's per knob, it could very well be they are actually sending 14-bit data, as they are always send using 2 CC's (e.g. CC-1 for the MSB, and CC-33 for the LSB, they are 32 appart) Together the two 7-bit values form the actual 14-bit parameter value. This is a good thing!

Cheers,
Joris

Thanks Joris, that helped me fixed those knobs.

Much obliged!

Has anyone tried a Faderfox PC44?

The XL looks a lot more interesting than the non XL version indeed (not seen the XL before).

Been eyeing the MX12 and PC12 in combo here for a few days (available sometime in August): http://www.faderfox.de/new-module.html
