Don't forget that these introduce heavy aliasing.
Ringing. Not aliasing.

I think Miles is talking about naive FFT filtering not actual FFT convolution. Simply taking the FFT clearing out some bins and then inverse FFTing will result in aliasing. FFT convolution will not alias.

A:
(4096) FFT size with hanning windowing and 4x overlap will sound the best when brickwall filtering.

(This thread ain't for FFT (bleauarchchch) chat.... haha.... Jus' kiddin')

I'm still on it, believe it or not

Waitin' on the evolution of optimization algo's. There's a new one every week (and it usually sux)

For a VERY funny (and sadly true) take on this, read this NOW https://github.com/fcampelo/EC-Bestiary

Cheers

Rich

ps. I already have non-ringing steep filters (very near linear), BUT they don't play well together (the adjacent ones, of course)

Plain and simple IIRs

The boffins don't believe this filter exists

Trust me... It does ;)

It still aliases the temporal content as shown in this forum a few months ago. No matter how far you overlap, it won't be enough. Real brickwall filtering requires infinite overlap.

You don't know what overlap means.

And you will just reply with junk like the other kvraudio users did in the past against me with a huge load of shit taking up many pages on the same forum thread.
