So there I was at the garage, waiting for my car being done. A mandatory check up I have to have done every two years. And the mechanic came back with the news that one tire runs bald. I am surely not someone driving a hot wheel. I like it smooth and steady, like the music playlist I choose for longer trips. Well, so I have to get new tires for the car, but this also seals the fate for tonight's edition. Yep, we'll have it smooth and steady. Not too soft, of course, don't want to fall asleep on tour. So lean back and enjoy a wonderful musical trip with Paul Kwitek (Qualia), SineRider (Stay Home), Melorman (Somewhere, Someday), Vanderson (Beyond Time Structure), Jim Black (The Heat), and s_ence feat. snc (See).

So this is the week of breaking headphones. First, my listening headphone started to crackle, it's an open Beyerdynamics DT990 which I have for about 15 years. And I thought, well, cannot blame them for slowly giving up. I always have a second one. Well, I had. As right this week my closed-back AKG, which I use for mixing and recording, simply broke on one side. Blimey! So now I am using a portable on-ear headphone for listening and recording. Wonder, what that will do to the show. But, hey, you are here for the music, and I totally have cool stuff for you on the playlist. Brand new releases as well as some that definitely are worth checking out. Fantastic tracks, too, one this new edition, which are by Pyramaxx (Move), Blinky Blinky Computerband (Fractured Sign), Wellenfeld (Ten), Baltes & Erbe (Electric Garden), aAirial (Music for Sunny Days), and Saafi Brothers (The Quality of Being One: Remixes).

When you don't know what to talk about, choose the weather as universal topic. It usually does not offend anyone in his or her view or believe, and most people can relate to having good or bad weather. For example, since this week the cold and rainy days finally makes their exit and give space to the sun. Less cloth to wear around, which also means less laundry stacking up in the hamper. Your skin finally gets to consume some vitamin D made by UVB radiation. On the downside, people start running around wearing ridiculous sunglasses and leggings and white socks in brown sandals. Ok, images. Well, the good side is one can enjoy the long evenings outside with some drink and of course beautiful music, like the one we have tonight by Bernd Kistenmacher (Disintegration), Jamuroo & Wolfgang Gsell (From Holy Mountains and Sacred Places), Deep Imagination (Carefully Kept Secrets), Erik Wøllo (Different Spaces), ARC and Peter Challoner (E-Scape 2017).

When I was younger, those postcards were just everywhere like a hype: completely black with the writing "cityname by night". Well, "cityname" of course was a city's name, and you got them everywhere I went for vacation. A fun card, showing the darker side of the town. Or rather not. I don't see them often nowadays, where it is rather some half-naked guy or girl with some city phrase. So, why am I writing about this? Anyways, tonight, syndae visits the darker side of ambient. It is rather recommended, not to listen and drive at the same time. On the other hand, I find this style very interesting and mind absorbing, when you let it take you to its depth. Have a great experience with tracks by Robert Fox (Cathedral), Ashtoreth (Midnight Radio Compilation 84), Perceptual Defense (Wishstone), Eisenlager (The Joy Division), Shock of Daylight (Blood is Sweeter Than Honey), and Winterberg (Le Sacre du Noir).

Earlier this life, I resided in Cologne, in that time one of the greatest sources in traditional electronic music. Not only did the local radio have a show dedicated to this style, one could also go into the big record shops -actually a store that had piles of vinyl discs stacked in shelves- and browse for EM. Try to find even a box of this music in current cd shops. Funnily, when I lived in Berlin, there was even less such music, despite that there had once to be a school of that kind. You can guess that I am so greatful for when music went the digital way. The world got virtually smaller and EM is available at a click. What a contrast to the early days, when I had to order a (hand printed) catalog to order the music I wanted. Well, you might have guessed tonight's motto by now, and I hope you enjoy the longish excerpts I have for you by Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder (E-Scape 2017), Alien Nature & Michael Brückner (The Dark Path), DASK (Electron Utopia), and Ed O'Neill (Eidolon).

All I need these days are refreshments. I lately posted on some social media that I am not made for warm weather. And I really ain't. A tiny spot of sun, and I become a water boiler. Obviously, my favourite sport is "don't move", which definitely will become olympic one day. Besides natural refreshing drinks, where I usually prefer those without sugar (some people might know about my Daily Zero art, I posted some years ago), when it comes to audible refreshments, there may be beats. Well, tonight's the perfect show for homebodies like me, with wonderful tracks by Seifert & Steinbüchel (Reverse Engineering), Michael Bijker (Be Here Now), Andy Pickford (Vanguard 3), Sylvain Carel (Semiramis), Matti T (To Be), Pitch Black (Invisible Circuits).

What a sweat. So I have been two weeks on the German's most beloved island, Mallorca, living right up some hill (!). And, yes, it was an amazing view from our apartment over the whole harbour area. But going up was quite steep and of course the temperatures being high, well, I don't know how stupid a man can be, but I'm sure I made it quite to the top of the list. Does it make you wonder I did need a vacation after the vacation and simply wasn't able to produce a new show? Ok, enough whining. Back to the most beautiful hobby in the world: electronic music. And I have really nice treats for you tonight, at least I enjoyed them, maybe you will have the same fun with tracks by Cinema (The Discovering of Time), Otarion (Decide), Lord of the Ants (First King), Sequential Dreams (The Infinite Divide), Klangzaun, Blinky Blinky Computerband (Blue Ice).

So I recently started to watch one of those criminal drama series, Bosch, that I liked quite instantly. It may not have the most inventive story, which still is good though, but it features characters. To me, that is one major advantage and very important as stories nowadays may vary but seldomly are really new. One of the reasons Babylon 5 was so successful, if you ask me. Now. Besides in TV shows, characters also are important in music. Artist wise as well as musical wise. If a track has no character of its own, it sounds dull. Hence, when you hear music on syndae, whatever the style, there is something of character in it. At least to my ears. Even if the music itself is not my cup of coffee, if it sounds interesting enough it might end up on one of the episodes. Well, for tonight I can say that all of the tracks are very much to my likings. And I hope you will enjoy them, too. Welcome the wonderful music of Wellenfeld (Ten), Tony Byrne, Holon (Midnight Radio Compilation 86), Stan Dart (Ecclesia), weldroid (Live at Twitch), and Circa State (Homegrown).

Are you on facebook? Well, this question might sound a bit awkward if you are reading this in the syndae group. But maybe you are reading it in some forum or on syndae's homepage. Now, are you? Do you also spend so much time for nothing but checking the stream for interesting posts? I do, and each time I tell myself, it's mostly wasted. On the other hand, I have quite a lot of cool musicians as contact (or friends as fb calls it) who inspire me to continue running my podcast. While the social media surely has its shortcomings, there is always someone that is worth staying. And I can tell you, it is worth listening in to tonight's edition of the show as well. Actually, as always, but each time it's great fun for me to present some really outstanding works, like the tracks this time which are by Bacila & Senex (Midnight Radio Compilation 81), Visible Silence (Into the Deep), keiss (TEMS. Point: Beshtau), Stan Dart (Ecclesia), Telemecanique (Meetings), and Hollmspeed (I am Like Not Real).

Some people might say that ambient music is made for the background, to accompany something more important or to simply fill a gap in the environment to serve as acoustic noise. It's definitely not so. Ambient needs ones full attention, to have the right experience of its richness and beauty. It's OK to ignore it, if one has no interest. But you will miss a lot doing so. For me, seriously listening to ambient music is an amazing source for creating many kinds of images in my head, and emotional strong ones. An important detail is to let the music sink into your mind and stop chewing that damn potatoe chips. It may not work everytime or for everyone. So I hope, some of the music of tonight's show will reach you guys out there. And I am fully aware, that me talking over the tracks might disrupt doing so. But, hey, go on and fetch the releases presented and relish them in their wholeness. Only five such tracks are on tonight, gifted to us by Levente (Empires of Silence), David Helpling (A Sea Without Memory), Sava Marinkovic (Through the Air), Giulio Aldinucci (Boule à Neige), and Simon Wilkinson (Merging the Infinite).

For at least four years, about every fortnight a new volume of the Midnight Radio compilation was released. It always contained a bunch of tracks covering a very broad range of styles, from traditional and classic electronic to pop, ambient and experimental music. Not to mention, that it always came for free. Norbert Kutz put a lot of effort into this compilation series and to me it was a vivid source of inspiration and made me feel like an explorer of new worlds. Well, sometimes an era ends, and so did the compilation some weeks ago. At the end, somewhat ten final volumes were released with music submitted to Midnight Radio. Tonight it's time to say thank you for all the work on this compilation. Hence, this is a kind of dedicated edition of syndae, having tracks from several of the final volumes, that is music by Reskimus, Jesper Sorensen, Eagle, Johan Tronestam, and Cousin Silas.

It's definitely time for a chill. No, not because of high temperatures. This Summer is definitely not giving me that, mostly dark outside, mostly raining as if living under a waterfall. Well, no, I simply need to get my brain to rest. It seems so busy with all the thoughts on business and private work. Do you have such moments as well, where your mind does not want to rest whatever you do? Or are you at peace with yourself? Maybe meditation helps. Why, I cannot meditate. Perhaps it's a mind thing? Last week's episode didn't do the trick, so tonight comes the second try. This time with chill out and relaxing downtempo tracks by Cosmic Touch (Reconnection), Gramatik (Epigram Deluxe Edition), Gumi & Kukan Dub Lagan (Future Horizons: The Lanquidity), Irresistible Force (Kira Kira), weldroid (EXPTIME).

Recently, they had a show on TV about the human heart. Among the studies they presented was one about the heartbeat influencing decisions and another one about the connection between heart beat and emotions. The latter can be quite sad, when sad emotions make one's heart ill, and happy, when a quicker heart beat makes one fall in love easier (you got it right, a quicker beat is the cause not the consequence). This makes me wonder, as music might also influence one's heart beat, if quicker music will cause you fall in love with the music easier than with slow music. We will do our own test series tonight, with some not so slow tracks and quite some beats. Let's fall in love with Floating Machine (Convergence EP), Samplestick (MH31), Paralitic Twins (Birth of Cosmos), Calling the Ghosts (Pleasure Machine), and Flembaz (Pote 2).

So I read today about "success" in the area of bio-hacking. It manages to encode malware into a DNA strand that will infect software with a computer virus when analysed. Ain't this world crazy? Now, what if you would encode a music track into your DNA that will start playing whenever you are being scanned? That I would like. Passing through the security gates at a terminal and the system starts playing your favourite song. Really sounds like fun to me, maybe not so to the security personnel. However, talking about crazy. Tonight's selection of tracks may not be crazy, but they definitely have the magic to tickle your cochleas. Enjoy the wonderful tracks by weldroid (EXPTIME), MacroNoise (Caravan Planet), Protuberance (Music for Elevators Vol. 5 Part 1), SubCarrier (Field Emitter), and Antam Yar ft. Digital Skunk (Future Horizons: The Lanquidity).

Time for some sweetness in our lives. Experiencing the world sometimes (or often) is a big enough rock to carry around in one's mind. Tonight's music will let you take a step outside the daily world and will be very gentle to your thoughts. It's not about forgetting the daily troubles but to have a counterbalance. Have a pleasant evening with the wonderful tracks by Sasa Tosic (Circles of Time), Chronotope Project (Ovum), Fiona Joy (Into the Mist), Anantakara feat. Mukti (The Never Dying Fire), Rudolf Heimann (Touch the Sky), and Steve Orchard (Theory of Communion).
