Seen Aswad in concert several times - great band

Post

I haven't seen them live but heard plenty of their records. Too bad they aren't so active any more, maybe they still do gigs but they don't make records. Corner stones in the UK reggae scene .. I guess the scene there has developed more into revolving around sound systems and producers instead of bands, not necessarily a bad thing but would still be nice if the likes of Aswad, Steel Pulse, Misty in Roots, Talisman were still active making records as well. Black Roots are still alive and kicking, though.

Released this year, from the album with the same name:

Oh this was years ago, don't know if they are still touring. Saw Steel Pulse a few times too.

Yea they still do gigs, they're regulars on festivals around Europe. Looks like in the UK too -- if you're down for a bit of nostalgia: http://www.songkick.com/artists/273321-aswad https://www.ents24.com/uk/tour-dates/aswad-1

Although she is from Belgium if I remember correctly, that song has a Los Angeles sound somehow.

Seeing that massive record player reminds me of something interesting I read a couple of days ago, namely that usually songs with a powerful bass and bass drum were put on the outer edge of vinyl records because the groove is wider there than towards the center, which helps the bass. Maybe that's why ballads were often the last tracks on both sides...

Jean-Michel Jarre - Electronica 2 The Heart Of Noise. Why he keeps writing Korg MS 20 twice in 'Instruments and gear used' section?
