In fact, I love it so much that I had to bring it back myself since no one else will :hihi:

The perfect answer to the person who asked why is anything acid, not just dance. Essentially 303 abuse a drum machine and not a lot else
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Precisely! :D

Prog House - 90's

You're still old ;)

Fidget - OK you're off the hook for now.
electro is 80s, but electro house is easily 2005 and onward.

Modern Prog house 2009...

speaking of which, I wonder what is the up and coming EDM style of music.

man I am old!

Currently in Los Angeles the current craze in EDM is Moombahton(essentially afrojack music slowed down to 105-110)
also a HipHop/Dubstep subgenre called Trap which is characterized by its high hats creating the groove
i hate both of these cuz most producers in the genre make all their bass lines with no sub and i cant listen to music with no sub frequency. i call it squeky shit.
that being said HipHop is being revitalized by Kendrick Lamar.
But its really geographical. cuz i bet trap is more of a west coast flavor, moombahton is the next electro house.

Post

I always associtated Trap with the south more than the West coast.

I gotta check out moombaton.

thanks,

this mix is classic. jonah sharp aka spacetime continuum (reflective recs) on the ones and twos - some stunning sounds in amongst it all

info about genre roots - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid_house

as a teenager hearing tracks by artists like hardfloor and richie hawtin blew me away - I had no idea how the squiggly riffs might have been made, they just seemed like they came right out of the future

everyone loves this track...

Damn you volume control, this is a bedroom studio, not a discoteque!

I didn't catch that before. Indeed, nice. The opening tracks are a bit obvious for my tastes but later he really settles down. I really like the track that's twenty minutes in, deep and groovy. You can hear the vinyl mixing in the next mix, but it's still quite good. I really like the shift in energy there. This isn't the sort of stuff that triggers your lizard brain to run to the dance floor hands in the air, it creeps up on you and slowly aligns your groove.

Yes, but, I've had that track for quite some time. A friend gave it to me on vinyl around 98 when I first started Doing, so it's not new to me. It was just fun to hear it again.

That first hit of the piano is the sample they use with dub delay in the dubspot videos :)
