And here's the piece of utter crap he's released on the radio this week:

At first I thought, Oh someone's doing a ripoff of that hillbilly Avicii song. But it was Avicii himself. I think, at the end he just got bored and gated the whole song. It's pretty terrible.

Holy shit.
Wow.
So, where is he from?
How does the USA Country music 'vibe' work there?
Cuz, from a US perspective, this is some laughably wonky shit. Basically, and entirely unworkable concept.
i.e. If I were his label rep, no way would he release this weird shit in the US until he had a few more 'standard' hits under his belt.
What a spectacle, geez.
Those horns, what in the ffffff.
Though I do admire the carefully balanced amount of twang in that drawl.
Im positive he has a horse or two, but I bet he is not racist.

It's simple really. EDM as it's now known is an American phenomenon, or rather they're the ones lapping it up for some reason.
Some bright spark thought 'lets make it a bit redneck' (even though the Europeans did it far better 20 years earlier) and it'll sell shitloads.
Which is appropriate, because it IS shit. So, so shit.

Well, prepare for a surprise boys.
Or, bring more bathsalts to the gigs, because the US is not going to chomp on this easily...
Does anyone imagine that Europe, or anywhere else, is going to bite on it because its so 'American'?

If you add a 'country music vibe' to the sound of a washing machine it would sell in the southern states. Seriously, the worst taste in just about anything exists here.

In a world of same in EDM these days, I have to give Avicii credit for doing something original.
I actually think "Wake Me Up" was a pretty decent track.

Well if anything i think you just made a clown from yourself by connecting the two different subjects as one...So don't blame Avici for being clown.Sendy wrote:I like when he says he doesn't believe in ghosts but DOES believe in Outer Space.

Wow. Just wow. I honestly don't even know where to start with this. Who said anything about them being connected? Are you literally grasping at straws or what?kmonkey wrote:Well if anything i think you just made a clown from yourself by connecting the two different subjects as one...So don't blame Avici for being clown.Sendy wrote:I like when he says he doesn't believe in ghosts but DOES believe in Outer Space.

Believing in Outer Space is kinda a given seeing as we're surrounded by space everywhere. Outer Space isn't something one needs to clarify an opinion on... It's like saying "Well, I don't believe in Santa Clause, but gravity, yeah, that's real".

I had a huge "UM" moment also, when i first consciously listened to one his tracks on radio. I probably listened to one of his tracks before, but that was the first time i was really sure that it was from him, because the radio moderator said so. I was wondering about the style, i always thought he makes some sort of commercial house or trance music, and i was wondering how he can be commercially successful with such a style. As you said, it has that sort of country/western touch which is really quite weird in combination with the house influence and beat. ^^ Well, each to its like, though i am wondering where this influence comes from. If he was advised to do so, or came up with it himself, to be commercially successful, then hats up, brave decision.highkoo wrote: So, where is he from?
