The band of my youth (well, along with DM, Aphex Twin, My Dying Bride, Type O Negative, Speedy J and etc).
Their music and lyric were always so melodic and touching, like the real poetry. Anybody else been a fan of this great band?

For me, they have always been pretty boring mainstream average pop music...
But nobody can beat Ace of Base in the category "Most boring pop music"...

The same average as now? Marie voice was without any "autotune". And at least theiy sang about the feelings and not just about "yeah, I would suck that and would lick that" (at least, not explicitly).

I heard their songs only in the 90ies, and I was always bored to death...Igro wrote:The same average as now? Marie voice was without any "autotune". And at least their sang about the feelings and not just about "yeah, would suck and lick that".
They're both good songwriters and singers but the instrumentals all sound similar average pop-alike...
I miss some really strange, funny acts like Army of Lovers...
(as far as Swedish artists are concerned...)

This is a remix (of a British DJ) of "Army of Lovers" I fell in love nearly 24 years ago:

Roxette rocks!! I love a very wide range of music but tend towards hard rock/progressive/metal but they both are so very talented!! Beautiful songwriting, harmonies, hooks, production etc. VERY under rated!!!

With all the tough competition fighting for that award, i can only say: bullshit.Tricky-Loops wrote:But nobody can beat Ace of Base in the category "Most boring pop music"...
Relisten to "all that she wants", the most overplayed thing. It probably has more chords than you remember, some pretty decent melodic lines, and yes it's kinda catchy, which caused the overexposure.
If that seriously is your "most boring pop act", i can only say "get out more". No wait, i should say "stay inside and construct soundproof bombshelter", right?

Looks like their producer has not been too bored, though...Tricky-Loops wrote:

Well, I'll always be thankful to their song 'It Must Have Been Love' because it was the best song for slow-dancing and snogging schoolgirls in 1992 when I was a schoolboy.
(That and a bit of Maria Mckee's ''Show Me Heaven'' always gave a 'friendly' 5 minutes).
Aaah... the joys of teenage mouth braces clanking together, plus the squeeze of white blouses and black miniskirts (them) and dubious shirts, Hawaii shorts and neon-coloured socks (me)...

Ugh, gotta admit that blurb features some bad offenders in the boring pop song category. So to further back up my claim, he definitely managed to write far more generic stuff after ace of base.paveloso wrote:Looks like their producer has not been too bored, though...Tricky-Loops wrote:

If britney had more songs written by whoever did "Toxic" i might actually dig her.

I'm talking about SWEDISH pop music, not about Britney. Of course there is much more generic pop music out there in this world...nasenmann wrote:Ugh, gotta admit that blurb features some bad offenders in the boring pop song category. Britney's hits are composed and produced by Swedish pop musicians. As was Toxic.
