Love the first three, never listened to the last. Thanks for sharing.
It's the closing of side A of Heaven & Hell. Jon Anderson wrote the lyrics, but the record is Vangelis only, since everything else is instrumental (and chorus). A very powerful record.

BTW: Some more - Marillion: Script For a Jesters Tear, Grendel, Jigsaw.

By Yes my favourite album is Fragile (forgive my poor english but i can't concept the Yes without Bill Bruford)... @fmr: Grendel is wonderful... 18min circa of pleasure!!!

PS: Love 70' Prog Rock... The first time i heard "Chelsea Monday" from Marillion perhaps i've start to cry...

A song needs .... vocals!

From the top of my head, it would be something like this:

Kraftwerk - The Model
Gary Numan - The Aircrash Bureau
OMD - Sealand

Post

prince - the cross, beautiful ones.
massive attack - teardrops.
throbbing gristle - discipline, white and sticky, hot on the heels of love.
various artists -all the pretty horses.
johnny cash, willie nelson and kris kristofferson - the highwayman.

just some favourites out of many.

-because the singers don't hold onto notes too long, like they know nothing about consciousness. Take it like a man.

Why did you feel the need to include "Female Artist" in your list? It's just a matter of "political correcteness" isn't it? If Kate Busch didn't deserve to be in any of the other categories, why not simply leave she out? Why create a special "female" category. AFAIK "female" is not a musical quality.

Besides that, great list :tu:

BTW - Gymnopedie nº 1 is not a song - is a piano piece.

@hibidy: an interesting choice! Made me go back and listen to Superunknown and DOTU for the first time in ages...! What a great band that was (is).

Another another favourite all time song here... it's not like it encapsulates everything I love about music, but it's damn close; like watching a Universe being born, grow old, and die in a fiery cataclysm:
