I've got to admit to a bit of a soft spot for the old crooners. Jim Reeves - He'll have to go is a personal favourite. I'll try to track it down.
In the meantime -

John Cale is hard to beat. Amazing musician, songwriter, singer and producer. Whole package!

Jim Reeves is a bit hard to track down. The geniuses at the record company have blocked every instance of the video. This is a song that is over half a century old and no one will ever have heard of it. And they have an opportunity to open it to a whole new audience. And they cull that.
I will be so glad to embrace the wasteland that is going to be the next 20 years of music distribution. No one wins. Every one loses.
No Jim Reeves. Shit.
What a world.
If you can find it, it is called 'He'll have to go'. I already have it on cassette.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[listening to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony]
Alex: Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found a copy of it. This song has everything. Lyrics. Deep sexy voice. Over half a century old now, and BANNED!
This is what they don't want you to know:
--------------------------
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you he'll have to go
Whisper to me tell me do you love me true
Or is he holding you the way I do
Though love is blind make up your mind I've got to know
Should I hang up or will you tell him he'll have to go
You can't say the words I want to hear
While you're with another man
Do you want me answer yes or no
Darlin' I will understand
Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone
Let's pretend that we're together all alone
I'll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low
And you can tell your friend there with you he'll have to go
--------------------------
Uh huh.
