Ok, big changes, it's still beta and I even changed the name to "EZ_AG 3.hta"
You have now a sequencer, you can either load a midi file or create play lists. If you connect a midi out port to your EZ, you even get feedback (flashing leds) when you select another file in the play list.
Check the EZ_AG_Data for a file called "Readme Triggers.txt", as it is now possible to configure any combi of buttons and frets to perform specific actions. You can edit the "Triggers Default.txt" file or ask me to change it for you
Most of the trigs are defined this way, hold the Song Select button and 'click' the 11 or 12 fret.
Clicking the Sound Select will turn all notes off (but not the midi file play back)
Except the MidiOut for both splits/layers, the ports are now locked, so changing preset will keep the same midi ports. This allows to change preset while midi is playing.
Tip: Create a preset called "0", so it will be loaded at start up with your port preference.
Added open string and repeated notes behaviour.
You can now copy settings from one split/layer to the other.
If FretUp/Dn Mode is set to last velo, it will actually remove the amount set in Velocity each time you press/release a fret.
Note off time out: If set to 0 (zero), the note will stay on.
It's version 3.01 and you can download it here:
http://mypage.bluewin.ch/ncplus/download/MIDIX.zip
Be aware that the ocx has changed as well, so if you install in another directory, you need to run 'register.bat' again.
Bug reports and suggestions are welcomed

I'm falling so behind on my own EZ-soft!
I did get to take it out for a jam on Saturday with my laptop, triggering sounds from Reason. So I guess mine is at least road-ready. Hopefully I can release it this week.
And changes to the ocx? Hopefully just additions?

Glad to see you guys are doing so much with your "toys". I still love mine, though I use it unmodded -- works just fine for my purposes. I really should try the mods, though
Anyway, I changed the subject of the thread to reflect the new direction toward mods, etc.

You really should! You always have the option of plugging in unmodded, too.SecondSkin wrote:I really should try the mods, though

Mainly functions dealing with buffers, nothing that should interact with older code. Anyway, I'll send you the sources.Markleford wrote:And changes to the ocx? Hopefully just additions?
And yes, you still have some work , but your code may be easier to maintain in the long run, so keep up the good work.

Hey guys, just a thought. How about some modes where the keys illuminate to a scale (eg all notes in B minor pentatonic, then maybe the +/- minus keys could move the scale up and down).
This would turn the EZ guitars into real learing guitars (and would be mega-useful to hacks like myself). I'd even be willing to pay for a feature like that (and I bet alot of other owners would too).
I wonder why Yammy never thought of this?

Seems to be the question I ask myself over and over when adding new features. They *really* missed the boat in marketing this to the virtual studio crowd.SecondSkin wrote:I wonder why Yammy never thought of this?
Anyway, yeah, we could add a "play by the lights" scale feature. Which of us would you rather pay?

The problem with the EZ-AG is that we have only leds up to the 6th fret, wich is the reason I didn't implemented thisSecondSkin wrote:How about some modes where the keys illuminate to a scale
But why not, I'll add 2 text files, one for chords and one for scales, selectable from a combo, as well as the key.
Chords will illuminate every key that belongs to the chord and scales alike.
Another way would be to create midi files with the correct sysex, but this may be even more work.

OK kids we are going to watch some demo Videos of my new toy.
I haven't had this much fun with a new toy since grade school
.... or was it my first girlfriend....
The sound quality on the Videos is poor so I put up Hi-Quality MP3 version as well.
(badly needed for the Strings Video)

Just checked the manual again, it can recognize the sysex for fret LED on/off. Does that mean we can trigger the LEDs by sending sysex to the EZ guitars??? That would be cool!!!
Marc, you really should get the EZ-EG, we need more features utilizing the trem bar

That's one thing I'm working on. Even got a bit of a smoothing algorithm in there, seeing as how "chunky" the pitch data is. Soon!KLG wrote:Marc, you really should get the EZ-EG, we need more features utilizing the trem bar

Added scales and chords illumination
Not that great with the AG, but fun to look at.
If you set a string to mute, leds will not show for that string. If you use any transpose or tuning mode (even with the triggers) the leds will 'move'.
I changed a little the trigger file.
Chords are 12 tones based, an add2 will be the same as an add9 (1-2-3-5).
You can add or remove scales to your needs. Format is:
NAME;101011010101 (C -> B = 12 semi-tones) where 1 means On and 0 means Off
Also it is not possible to create scales that are greater than 1 octave.
marc
ps:
If you change any of the txt files (chords, scales triggers, user code, put them in the User folder, to avoid overwriting them on new version.
The app will first look in that folder for these files.
