yes, and you're one of the few who <get> where a monitor should be to avoid RSI - I'm guessing that's experience talking! How many KVRians have sore shoulders because they're always looking upward? A few, I'll bet.dburns wrote:Nice room Hink.

Because my studio is much less impressive than a lot of the pictures here, I decided to superimpose it. None of my casual-everyday items are as they seem. They are super magical devices or inspiration and creation from realms not of this world!
Oh, and I forgot to mention I have a workstation desk to replace my current one...but uh...."some assembly required" and I haven't quite gotten to that yet.

Am I the only one that finds studio desks to be pretty bad with ergonomics unless costing $10,000? I have a Studio RTA workstation with built-in racks. The idea is good, but the execution blows in terms of surface availability and distance/height for computer displays, as well as width for monitors (unacceptable stereo separation IMO).
I finally just removed the entire top piece (slide-out shelf, rack, monitor/display surface) to make it just one flat, level surface. I set short angled racks on top of that surface, on either end, pointing inward, and my computer displays in the middle. Much better than the intended design. I'm still fighting with a deep monster CRT as well, for gaming and Photoshop, so, desk depth is an issue there (the desk is away from the wall to accommodate the CRT, thieving room space).
Also, cables cost too much to put stuff where I want to! (but I am unemployed and poor)
But yeah. Ergonomics. For nearsighted people. With very quick loss of feeling in body parts from sitting most ways. And neck/back pain from leaning inward. I got mid-range glasses to reduce eye strain and migraines when using my stuff (as opposed to wearing my normal long distance prescription). I recommend this, if anyone here has that problem. It has really added comfort where there was none.
I'll post some pics of my setup once I get the wiring finished, that way I don't feel like a poser...

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I'm such a gear slut. All these photos of gear make me all warm inside. I'll probably take some arty gear porn shots too. What does this stuff look like to people that don't give a hoot?
