Now you are talking, one of my all time favourite cuts, I played the dub version to death…

Gambitron I think we both know "Why is it fresh?"

For anyone interested in Hip-Hop or Celluloid records, I'd recommend checking out the 2 CD collection called "V.A. The Celluloid Years - 12"es and more".

Okay, getting back on topic - this thread has been driving me nuts since I first read it. I've been trying to remember what track I first heard that sample on, and it was an old, old hip hop track from like 90-91. I woke sometime in the early hours this morning and for some stupid reason I started to think about this thread, and the name of the hip hop artist who originally used that sample just popped into my head:

DIVINE STYLER!!!!

Track's called 'Aint Saying Nothin'', taken from the album 'Word Power' and is also available in the format 'Word Power - The Instrumentals'.

Check out track 8 - it aint Prince, its a James Brown track its sampled from - so all you have to do is audition a load of JB stuff and you'll get the whole sample!

Yeh, you're all welcome - and at least I can sleep properly now!!!

wouldn't that be infringing poor Princes copyright ... ? link

Post

Yea it would but who cares about ripping off prince anyways his music is terrible!

-the guy wanted a clean sample from "jump around" ..I suggested take it from the source.

Cheer up man!

We do from time to time aye.. but where is the irony in this?

It's not me sampling prince.. just suggesting the best way to get close to the jump around "trademark" sound.

Post

you accused me of ripping off "poor Johnny (God rest his soul) Cash" about 30 mins ago in another thread ... that's the irony, sorry you don't get it.

Post

Nope.. it would however be ironic if I said you where ripping off Johnny Cash, and then you seen me say I was gonna sample Prince for my music, which I wouldn't.

Now that'd be irony sorry.

Are you gonna now make my life on kvr a living hell? by analyzing my every word in an almost stalker-ish fashion ready to pounce if I slip up!?

I have been looking for a rap song that starts off with the same horn as jump around. I can't find it anywhere and I'm dying to remember what it's called. If you know please help.
PS: it's not calm down :x

NECRO! interesting though.

I had a look on this site that wasnt around 8 years ago. ;)

interestingly, its saying that the squeal is not prince, but 'Shoot your shot' by Jr Walker and the all stars.

if you want to find songs that use the brass intro, try this:
http://www.whosampled.com/Bob-%26-Earl/Harlem-Shuffle/
- says its used in 13 songs. might not be comprehensive but its worth a look.

I'll answer this one then. Keep your tabs on 0:10...
