Sarcyan,

When I try to download soundfont version, Mediafire says:

The file you attempted to download is an archive that is damaged or possibly encrypted. MediaFire does not support unlimited downloads of broken or encrypted archives and the limit for this file has been reached. This file may only be distributed from a premium account.

Yes, Mario and miquelmatas, you are right. I constantly get this message in my Mediafire account (if it wasn't for you I would never check again, everything was working fine until now):

"Sharing of this file is restricted because it is a (corrupted , multi-volume , encripted/password-protected) file. This restriction does not apply to downloading the file from your own account".

It basically means Mediafire are asking me to upgrade the account from free to something else. In order to do that I need my credit card data, but I don't have a credit card because of a couple of very bad experiences I had using them to buy online.

After that happened I created a Paypal account time ago which I use to pay everything I purchase on the net in a safe manner, but Paypal isn't supported as a payment method in Mediafire, so I am basically stuck with my free account forever.

I also thought about uploading a single file, but then again the free account limits the max file size to 200 MB, and the file, compressed as much as possible, is almost 700MB.

What really gets me is that it basically leaves me with a single quick solution and it is deleting the old files and upload the Soundfont again. :/ It's quite a bit of hassle and a bit off putting. But it should work perfectly given the fact that the current files are useless as of now.

On a different note, I didn't change the Soundfont, I just added some extra samples to the Music Box instrument for the fun of it, because I am very close to the maximum number of instrument generators supported by the format. (currently sitting at 65506 out of 65536 max), and sometimes it crashed and went buggy or corrupted until I found the sweet spot where it's 100% compatible with any utility that support soundfonts. Other than that it's the same as in the previous version.

Whenever I upload it I will share the new download links. The times of the dial up Internet are fortunately long gone for me, but still I have a relatively slow connection to upload files -download speed is 6MB, but upload speed is an entirely different matter-

Post

EDIT: The new link to download the Soundfont has been added below. The ones listed in this message didn't work and had to be changed.

Enjoy :harp:

5GB for free so it shouldn't be a problem.

Many thanks guys.

I followed your advice and uploaded the file to Google Drive -Skydrive, which gives you 7GB for free is also great if you have a Hotmail account-. It works like a charm.

As they say, every cloud has a silver lining. So I took advantage of the situation and those misfortunes with the files by tweaking a couple of details of the soundfont, something that I did days ago, before uploading it again.

Nothing especially important anyways, but it's a change.

Apart from the addition of new samples to the Music Box instrument, I changed the Techno drum kit bank and preset from 128:26 to 128:27, and made some touches in the Dance (TR-909) drum kit and placed it on the 128:26 preset instead.

I uploaded the soundfont in a single file -SFPACK format- weighing 658MB.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6caGN_ ... sp=sharing

After you click on the link, click on download and this message will appear: "Sorry, we are unable to scan this file for viruses.

The file exceeds the maximum size that we scan. Download anyway"

Then click on Download Anyway. The speed is high, at least on my internet connection, which is nothing to write home about, just 6MB. It easily reaches 400kB/s when downloading it, so it doesn't take long.

The soundfont has been compressed with the Soundfont compression utility SFPACK, which you can download in the original webpage here:

http://www.personalcopy.com/sfpack.htm

For MAC users, in order to uncompress the file Wine Bottler works perfectly with sfpack.. You just have to put the Sfpack file in the extracted folder of sfpack app anywhere on your drive, if you have Winebottler installed it will automatically open with that, choose "Open within winebottler" not to leave any windows junk lying around, extract, soundfont in it's 1.9ghb glory, exit winbebottler, all traces gone, sf2 intact.
(much obliged ttoz!!!!!!!!)

Guh I just feel very at peace with myself. I am thankful to all the people that helped one way or another.

Be well. Image

Ah, no worries, the changes are so small -one was made for fun, not a huge deal at all, as I added 6 samples to the Music Box instrument JUST to increase the instrument generators, because it was already at the very limit -almost 65536 instrument generators- in order to see how far I could take it without corrupting the file. I did this offline, in my computer, and when I noticed the file didn't get corrupt I left the Soundfont that way. A test for fun -right now I am trying the same offline but I always exceed the number, and I am about to give up trying to experiment, especially when you have to wait to save a 2GB file, which takes time and patience, just to check compatibility issues, so the fun part of it disappears at some point-.

And the other is just a preset number change. This means that those who download the SFZ version are going to enjoy the same Soundfont. There are no differences people could spot, save those 6 samples --among 5684 samples. :scared: Actually, I don't know if the updated Music Box preset sounds better with the new samples or not, I just added and layered them with the other samples of the instrument and that was it. I didn't even bother to compare -it sounded okay individually before adding the instrument as a layer, so it also mixed fine with the original preset, and worked as expected- or test it much.

Thinking of DavyAch brings me a smile. Thank you again, btw! If I changed anything important I would tell him first just in case he didn't mind editing another SFZ file (although I know it isn't easy, judging by his words, it can take up to a few days), but I don't expect major updates anymore. This would require a bit more time in all areas if I wanted to get there, but I think it's balanced -and I am focused on other things in my life- which was my main objective as of late.

I have installed the SFZ version since he published it online, and seeing all the samples individually and conveniently organized in folders would make you realize the Soundfont he has and the *updated* one are the same thing.

DavyAch work comes out intact anyways, and I am really grateful to him. I would say the same about my work with the soundfont. Whether it is good, average or bad, I can't afford to change everything or work in huge updates. In fact, until I could find a painless -it can be done, but it's a PITA- way to decrease instrument generators, I would be stuck like forever with the current file. I am happy with it. When one notices it works without needing fixes being a bigger deal than they need to be, then I can't ask for more at the moment.

Cheers Mario.

Thanks for the presidential nomination, but as I didn't keep my promise to do this a week and a half ago, surely that rules me out??? I vote for Sarcyan anyway! :)

Links for the latest soundfont converted to SFZ are attached. I've pulled these into Alchemy Player, Zampler and Dimension LE to test. Testing hasn't been extensive, so please feed back any issues. Download is big!

im just curious, does anybody have serious clipping going on with the samples? for example, if you chose the electro kit, then play notes a low octaves, the sound 'pops' and the mixer goes to red. im using these in presonus studio one free in presense.

Thanks for the effort -
will try out asap!
