Sorry for moving the thread in a wrong direction. Your answer came in just before I've finished preparing the update for DrumAddict.

Just to close the topic on this thread, DrumAddict's statement is correct for the Independence versions up to 2.5 where strong directory rules have to be followed.
This has changed since version 3 and as you mentioned Translator has aligned it accordingly - what also was a motivation for me to bring up this example here. However, the explications where not clear enough in my documentation. Therefore I uploaded an update to same folder attached below the relevant extract from the REAMDE.
However, there is one important thing about all this which is highly connected to this thread:
I had so many times with all these music software the same experiences like DrumAccdict and was many times shaking between various products. It's with all the same - all have their specific drawbacks concerning usability in different areas. But once familiar, then it either serves your needs or not. In this sense Translator serves my needs and has my recommendations like Independence serves my needs as sampler.

To load it you can just extract the zip file and copy everything
what is below 'YOUR_PATHS\Library Path' to a dedicated library path of your choice
and what is below 'YOUR_PATHS\User Folder' to a folder
which is different from your regular Independence User Folder

IMPORTANT:
Before you can use the example you have to add the 'Library Path' in Preferences->Libraries
and set the 'User Folder' in Preferences->User Folders' accordingly.

Can I build a simple instrument with Translator 6? It says you can, but I can't find anything in the manual that shows you how to do this.

We just updated the manuals; it's page 35 in the PDF manual, it's in the HelpFile now, and you can always reference the Online Documentation under Help. The AutoSampler section is under Special Features.

That's just auto-sampling though. You can build an instrument from existing WAVE files by selecting a folder of WAVE's or whatever and converting it into whatever format you want. Translator will "build" the instrument according to the rules set under Preferences-Single Sample Map. Here's a product video that illustrates this:

You don't really have control over what wave goes where; you can use Constructor for that http://www.chickensys.com/constructor.
