Hello!
What high quality sound libraries you guys can recommend me for very creepy soundscapes, horror ambiences, cold horrific sounds, etc ? Any suggestions coming to your mind? The creepier the darker the better
Don't mind having different formats but I need the raw WAV or AIFF sounds.
NOT looking for any beat loops, smooth pads, animals or monster sounds, or meaty gory splash sounds. Just pure creepy horror soundscapes & unsettling ambiences.
Thanks for your time & suggestions, appreciated!

If you're not afraid of 32 bit VSTi, Atonoise and AlioNoctis Pro by HGFortune are great resources for horror textures and soundscapes!

The Sick libraries from Soundiron are good for this. They need the full version of Kontakt, but you also get the wav files. They contain soundscapes and other horror type sounds. They occasionally have sales
Also, Zero-G has some very good stuff and they have a lot of sales. Samplephonics have a few too, I think.
Iris is excellent for creating your own.

VSL Downloads, Bass Waterphone. Also XXL TamTam. Waterphone and bowed cymbals are very highly used in horror scores. The XXL tam uses all of these articulations from Stockhausen Mikrophonie; paperbox, flyswatter, plunger... and all this abuse.
Tonehammer or Soundiron has a waterphone lib iirc. Also see {correction} Glass / Works by SonicCouture, and they have some earlier glass thing; cf., Glass Armonica, Verrophone.
Also VSL Glass Instruments. None of these is all that expensive. It's more direct control of sound, but if you like someone else doing all the sound design there's those things.
Glass Percussion has some really nice sound design.
Another more direct thing to know about is col legno tratto [bowing with the wood side of the bow] with strings, that's very popular. Strings artificial harmonics in glissandi is a cliché for good reason.

thanks all for the great suggestions!
Some very inspiring and cool stuff in your suggestions, thanks again.
And yep, the Waterphone is one hell of an instrument for the horror. Well said!

The SoundIron Sick libraries for Kontact are great weird and fun horror sounds.
they go on sale around Halloween. I picked up the collection of Sick 1 - IV at the time for a bundle price that was reasonable (I think it was $82 for everything).

check out the demos on each product page.

Orchestral Essentials by Project Sam.
Its not cheap but an absolute great library for horror. You can use either the full version or Kontakt player.

My old double bass library has a couple dozen samples of bow scratches and screeches. Didn't include them in the new version, but you can still use the old one for them.
I added those for somebody playing a live soundtrack to the "Call Of Cthulhu" silent movie that I had also played live once. That lineup also included a waterphone, so, yeah, screechy strings, waterphones, bowed cymbals...

Bought Anomaly and it's in 6 out of the 8 tracks I'm composing for my new dark ambient album. Worth giving a listen to and TONS of sounds!

I have a couple of libraries available both as Kontakt/WAV:
Alien Soundscapes
Alien Soundscapes2
They have a darkish mood that should be ok for horror/weird stuff. Check out the audio demos
Cheers,
Max
