Warren Cann started on a biography (http://www.discog.info/ultravox.html), lots of interesting info, too bad it didn't continue past part 5...
He only mentions Synare in relation to (the track) Vienna
Vienna - The song came together very quickly. I had a drum machine/synth pad (CR-78 & 'Synare' pads) pattern in mind that I'd wanted to do something with and played that... to paraphrase myself, I said something like, "What about this, then?" and began the 'Vienna' rhythm.

'I also used Simmons' next development, the SDS-III. It was a unit which would allow you to connect up to four pads and make 'electronic' drum sounds. Still firmly analog, but if you set the controls just right, it made quite a strong noise. This is the sound heard at the intro of 'All Stood Still'.'

Now that really does kick the Synare in the ass - would love to find one of those.

Wow, these are great. I just discovered your instrument site, and it is perfect for the compositions I do (synthwave/dreamwave).
I definitely have to get the full version of Kontakt soon!
Thanks.

Kontakt is great and well worth the initial outlay because of all the really good value 3rd party goodies out there.

A very cool oddities, it sounds lofi and raw, which is something I like! Good work!

This Pearl Drum-x is even nicer. Not as dirty and raw sounding as Synare, but more of a clean 808ish sound. I prefer the Peal Drum-x to the 808, but just wish it had a MIDI input.

Here are a small collection of Pearl Drum-x sounds in .WAV format and sfz file.
There will probably be some more made at a later date when I find a better way to trigger the machine(No MIDI) - Have heard good things about a Roland TR626 being useful for triggering a Drum-X.

A slight digresion: As a wee nipper one of my first fav songs was My Oh My
I was just revisiting that track the other day, and then I realized that at the very end they had ripped off Vienna

I like your demo video. What software do you use to screen capture the kontakt instrument with a black background?
Massive, Serum. Diva, Repro-1, HIVE, Spire presets, Reason ReFills more! https://NewLoops.com

I used Magix Movie edit pro for that video.faun2500 wrote:I like your demo video. What software do you use to screen capture the kontakt instrument with a black background?
I have never heard the ending of that song before, it does sound like Vienna at the end.Numanoid wrote:Thanks, will check those out

I haven't had time to try it out yet, but I'll be trying to recreate the sounds of Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus drummer), particularly the snare in 'Spy In The Cab' (and probably the 'bloop' in that song too), and the incidental disco toms in 'Dancing'...

Hello my friend. I take the liberty of writing to you, hoping you can help me. I have a Synare 3 too. It's been damaged for years. My technician does not find the correct way to wire the output plug. We do not have references or diagrams. I do not know if it would be possible for you to send me close photos of the internal connection of the plug, to see the route of the cables, since they go back and forth from the motherboard in a specific way that we do not decipher. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance. Greetings from Peru.

Hi, unfortunately I sold my Synare some time ago.Noiselectro wrote:Hello my friend. I take the liberty of writing to you, hoping you can help me. I have a Synare 3 too. It's been damaged for years. It might be worth asking Samples from Mars because they also made a Synare sample collection and may still have their Synare 3.
Good luck,
Steve
