Yeah, I'm looking for samples or loops that sound like these guys, I know they're grabbing them from records but I'm hoping someone's done that for me and put them in a sample pack or made something very similar :)

Any ideas? I tried searching for leftfield, breakbeat etc but couldn't find anything that sounded quite right.

Cheers!

Shameless self-promo, but those two drumsamples packs might get you in the vintage-sounding ballpark of abstract hip-hop experimentalists and Ninja Tune/Lex artists :

... and I am convinced that other forum users will also lead you to other great suggestions ;)

Thanks, sinkmusic! Those are nice sounds, and I may well use them for another project. :)

However, I wouldn't really say they are what I need here - mainly because they sound artificial, or synthesised. I think part of what makes Shadow's and RJD2's drums so awesome is that they're real acoustic samples, that sound dirtier.

Any other suggestions?

EDIT: Actually, some of them are acoustic, aren't they? Maybe I need acoustic loops that I can chop up... hmm.

Yes, all of them are acoustic.
It is not "dry", as it got processed further using either a 12bit sampler (for the "12bit drummer" pack, or analog gear (for the "vintage drums" pack), but the source is always acoustic drums.

I could put something together for you for a reasonable fee. I have a couple drum sample vsts and outboard gear I could run them through for grit. PM if you're interested :phones:
