Well, I'm going to make most epic sample pack in history. I want to do an ultimate amen breaks pack. And I need your help, guys.

If you have any vinyl record with famous The Winstons tune - original track, not remixed or cd version, could you please sample it (you probably already did) and send it to me? What I'm going to do is process this break with various gear, including samplers, compressors, tube ampifiers, tape recorders, equalizers, any fx processors I can find.

I already did a lot of amen break samples and I'm gonna do more. But I need the break sampled with various record devices and carrier condition, just for good variety. I've already sampled mine. Some of my friends also helped me, but this is not enough.
Please, KVR. You're my only hope. Help me to do something cool in my life.

PS: it will be available for free of course.

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Zexila, I don't think so. But I can ask, I know the ZERO-G owner.

That documentary above deals with that issue as far as I remember. :tu:

Good luck with that, but anybody can just recreate the same in their DAW, info is readily available

Programmed it in FL Studio, using the default kick, snare, hi-hat and clap

I'm waiting for sampling to hit the art scene and every painting of a lady to have the Mona Lisa's face! ;)

I have the lp version, would that be kosher?
Edit: I'll wait til the copyright bit is sorted--

Like ... 60s pop art?

Yes! You got me there my friend.
I remember reading that comic book artists were very unhappy with pop culture guys 'sampling' comic book art and selling the result for huge amounts of money.

Any CD version of the original recording has essentially been "sampled" from vinyl (or possibly tape?), and as far as dynamic range and frequency response, red-book audio (16bit/44.1kHz) is more than adequate to capture all the analog subtleties.

There are so many virtual drum machines and libraries. I can't understand why would anyone use this particular sample one more time.

Because it gives you "that sound" ... its not something you can program. The Amen Break is to drum'n'bass what the 909 is to techno, or the Funky Drummer / 808 to hip hop.

Right. As the documentary posted above discusses,, this one sample has become an integral part of popular culture. It is partly the pattern, but also the timbre of the actual recording.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
