Free samples out there, but ones which can be used for COMMERCIAL purposes ?

There are a ton of good samples out there.
But more often than not they say, "free for personal use, not commercial"
Is there a good list of samples that are totally free and that can be used commercially at no extra cost?

So basically I am looking for the "Creative Commons Zero" license.BertKoor wrote:https://freesound.org/help/faq/#licenses
On freesounds.org, there is an ability to sort by four tags. One is "attributation" and one of the others is this Creative Commons 0 (Zero) license.
thanks.

My SampleScience Player rompler contain a lot of public domain samples. To know which sounds are public domain, load a sound and check on the screen if "public domain" is written. If it is then it's public domain and you can do whatever you want with the sounds, if it's "Music production" then you can only use the sound in your music tracks (commercial or not).

I've done this for sound designer who needs acoustic sounds to mix in their sound design projects, but over time I released that most people use it for music production, hence the mixed licenses in the plugin.

You have to differentiate between two uses:
Use 1: You use samples for creating songs.
Use 2: You use samples for creating your own new sample set.
In case of "use 1" almost all free sample sets can be used
privately and commercially! You are completely free to do
what you want - also commercially!
In case of "use 2" it is different: For nearly all free samplesets
the rule is: You can of course create an new sampleset - but
you have to set it free for everybody - and you have to provide
a link to the authors. In this case a commercial exploitation
is excluded - with good cause!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In detail of course you must look into the "copyright rules"
of every sampleset which you want to use - but you'll realize
that in 99% the regulations I described apply.

True, you have to look in the license details.enroe wrote: In case of "use 2" it is different: For nearly all free samplesets

I got a Font online yesterday and it stipulated that it was 100% free, but I must pass that font on with the same license agreement as I got it (i.e. I can't charge for it).
However, if you look at Commercial Commons Zero and the the VSC02 orchestral samples (mentioned above), it does actually say that you can create your own commercial instruments with it.

Yeah I learned to check the licenses after making a Kontakt instrument and then realizing it was non-commercial only and tossing it.
Sort the Freesound stuff by CC0. There are a surprising amount of folks who put stuff under this.
Also note if I didn't already preachify, that you have to be really careful with soundfonts. Just because the soundfont maker says it is made from CC0 samples doesn't clear you if he is wrong. CC0/PD at the source is the only truly safe way.
