Pheeleep, I'm trying to find out what further discounts I could get for Kontakt, as I also own a few EastWest products (legally obtained). However, when I go through the purchase process, it says I don't qualify, even though I have a whole hard-drive of 7 of EastWest products. What am I missing?

Hello. Your EWQLSO products must use the Play engine. I have an old EWQLSO gold that was a Kompakt version. I have a license with NI for it and can even load the sounds in the free Kontakt player.

Check the full list of products that qualify on their website. There are even ZeroG librairies that qualify.

Yes, I have PLAY64, that's what I use in Reaper. But I never registered my EW products with NI... I don't understand that part...

Here is the full list of products that qualify you for a kontakt crossgrade:

You can only buy and activate the KONTAKT 5 Crossgrade if all of the following conditions are met:

1. You own one or more of the qualifying products in the list below

2. The product you own runs in an activated KONTAKT engine such as KONTAKT PLAYER, KOMPAKT, or INTAKT

But you can't because you have the PLAY versions. You would need to have the version that was available before PLAY registered with NI.

Now why would you go and post that (such a helpful list)?! I almost bought the crossgrade (didn't know I had a qualifying lib!) to KONTAKT, and I don't really need it!

OK, so if anyone has the same issue as I, here is what I did:

I downloaded the Native Instrument Services Center for Win7 and 8, installed on my computer and ran it. It recognized my NI products. I logged out of my NI account, then logged back in, added Kontakt 5 to my cart, selected CROSSGRADE, even if it told me I didn't have third-party something (I know I do have them). The price changed to :

Order Total:
$124.50

I paid using Paypal and got out, and received email notification that my order had been received.

"Thank you very much for your interest in our products! This email is just to let you know that we're checking your order, and to clarify the next steps. This email is not a valid order confirmation."

So now I have to wait to hear from Native Instruments for them to confirm my order and shipping fees.

If this works as expected, it will be one heck of an amazing deal!

The most important point I think is this one:

For example, you will see ZeroG Sounds of the 70's on that list but I think that if you bought that library today, it would not qualify. You can still buy that from ZeroG. The thing is, years ago the library was powered by Intakt. People got a vst and a license code that they registered on the NI web site to activate the license. Now the library is no longer powered by Intakt and does not require registering on the NI web site after purchase. I think the same applies to the East West stuff. If you used to have a Kompakt version and it is registered with NI, you qualify. If you got the East West stuff when it came with a Play engine than you don't. That's how I read it.

I've currently tempted by this one.

That said, buyers need to be aware that Mixcraft is still 32-bit only. As mentioned, the bundled plugins are nice -- but if you intend to use them on another DAW, you need to have Mixcraft installed on the same system for the plugins to work (At least, that was the case when I asked on their forums a year or two ago).
