What happened to Solid State Drive?

I have my T3io open right now and see my Muse-installed 256 SSD on one side and the original 1T HDD on the other unplugged.
I have not cloned before.

1) Is it wise to overwrite my HDD and use as a backup drive. Apparently a motor drive is better for long term storage as you can forget to plug it in every 6 mo. or so and still keep info.

2) How shall I clone them.
a) Andy63 says the Receptor backup is not favored + I don't know that it'll actually clone my SSD. What program works well.
b) Do I need to run said program through my PC or my mac or is there another piece of hardware I will need?
c) Is there specific harnessing and/or adapters I should use?

Thanks!

I can confirm that this model also works...

and works the same way, i.e. no need to plug your computer in, though you will have to crack open your receptor to get the bare hard drive. Just make sure (triple check) you get the correct drive in the proper slot before you start the clone.

ALSO, RE; the SSD HYBRID drives. As I stated in an earlier post these have a small (8gb on my model) SSD portion that stores your most accessed data for quicker boot up. There have been some concerns mentioned over stability/longevity of SSD drives. On the Hybrid, if this portion does fail over time you still have all of your data on the physical drive, it will function normally but you will no longer get the speed advantage. Plus they are as inexpensive as standard drives.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking care of disk backup especially in light of the news that Muse is closing it's doors.
