I am so far inclined to agree; I have yet to have any need for the 6 string channels mode, though I am glad the option is there should I find a use for it. I have noticed that most woodwind and brass instruments really respond very well with the fishman, I think because I have better mastery over midi velocity than with a keyboard and also I can play faster on the guitar in general. Fairly pleased with it overall, maybe it doesn't track PERFECTLY but it tracks very well, keeps up with most of my speed playing, and also is helping me to clean up any sloppiness. Still looking for good software to model guitar instruments ala Line6 Variax or Roland VG88.

Ultimately I have found the way to really get expressive with midi guitar is to use a breath controller (Tecontrol) and sample or modelling instruments that respond to velocity and breath controller commands. I haven't had as much success with getting realistic and expressive sounds using pitch control (sliding and bending on the guitar) as I have had using sampled instruments that model legato, vibrato, and slides with velocity, modulation (breath controller data for me) and sustain pedal data as the main triggering factor.
I love using Guitar Rig for the non-midi guitar sound and effects.

I use Guitar Rig also for amp and FX , but I would like to find a modeller for things like mandolin, 12 string, Nylon Acoustic. etc.

One thing that can work well for a mandolin like sound is using the octave pedal effect in guitar rig. Definitely post it if you find some good modelling software, I would love to play with that too! The receptor has a lot more horsepower than the line 6 pedals-it would be fun to see that same technology working with more cpu to draw on.
