I am an linux JACK audio engine user, and I've been looking for a piano sample patch for a long time, with no real luck. I'd much prefer freeware, or if anyone can email me a patch they've tweaked in Zyn, I'd love that.

Check out the article on sound-on-sound website which explains why a realistic acustic piano is nearly impossible with subtractive synthesis.

BTW: I don't know how realistic this patch for the JX10 is, never heard it.

But Zyn in not (only) a substractive synth....

Lol...no matter what synthezis...it can not recreate a Piano...unless Physical Modeling.

Yes, you’re right.

I’m not sure that mimicking reality with a synth (except physical modeling) is a brilliant idea. What I like in Zyn, is that it sounds very present and powerful, “realistic” in a way. As if the behavior of real instruments would have being mimicked, more than the instruments themselves. Non linearity could be one of the explanations to this stunning result, and of course, the talent of Paul Nasca.

Can future development be expected?

Development of Zyn (and her daughter) is on-going but at a pace detirmined by the free time and abilities of the devs - all done for love of the sounds
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

Anyone knows when was Paul's last post on KVR? Something like 2012 i think?

Development is ongoing for all sorts of things at some pace.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, the date sounds right.
He has not been active in the project for a while, but there are active maintainers (myself included).

That's good to hear, i hope he is ok though. I ignored ZynAdSybFX for years, well until few weeks ago, i had it before but opened it once or twice and that was it. Last 2-3 weeks i played with it i mean deeply, some editing and stuff and i found this thing amazing, i felt guilty for missing on it all these years. This thing if developed properly and some fixes can do real Miracles.
