Its architecture is complex and its buggy as hell.

Id certainly recommend it to hardened synth heads though
... and I would not underestimate the abilities of beginners.
Zyn was the first soft-synth I ever used, and you know what? I seem to do OK with it.
It's layered architecture actually makes it easier for beginners to just use as-is, then dip into modifying voice patches when they feel confident enough.

Hmmm. I really must get around to posting the latest version of my 'Companion' set :)

Edit:
Uploaded here now :D

It's still a GUI based on multiple windows... I wonder how compatible this NTK is to the original FLTK and what dependencies are required...
Hi jackoo and all,

Is this gui being added to the VST version?

Thank you,

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't think I can continue to support this project by adding improvements (my life just got more & more complicated...). At least not any time too soon.

I will probably just give some support every now and then, maybe fix a bug only if it's really really critical and not too hard to fix... sorry. I really hope other people come and continue the development (for which they will have my support, where I can help).

thanks for this legendary great sounding plugin!

all I have is a question for the community or for Paul,
Would it suck to make a tabbed interface instead of the separate windows?

Current mockup which is getting slowly implemented:

So, a single window solution is on the roadmap, though it is in early development.

I don't know about getting rich, but there might be some cash in the paid binaries (and open source) approach for things.
As per this UI as a whole I intend for it to go beyond being just a skin.
Organically understanding what various knobs do is not done well at all with the existing UI and I'm hoping that the new layout opens up some doors into better visual representations of user interactions than currently exist.

I guess if a lot of people get interested in this I could start documenting progress in a less ad-hoc manner.

+1
I always liked the insides\sound of this product.
In general, would love to see it with a normal translation of params to the host for humane midilearn, as the most important thing, imo. (I about all parameters, including in Edit Voice etc pages) Then I would be happy to buy it for 100 bucks at least.

I certainly have no problem with there being a single window option as long as it is an option. I've done a fair bit of sound design for Zyn at this point, and had my hands in the code as Fundamental can attest. When I'm working on a sound, I often want to see things while I'm working on other things; I'd like to see one ADvoice while editing another. I want to cut an envelope or LFO setting and QUICKLY paste it somewhere else. Tabs and single window interfaces (e.g. Whysynth) often leave me with a Rum Tum Tugger feeling, as if I'm on the wrong side of every mode. I've no doubt that a single modal window would be good some some work flows, and I encourage this as an option, but I emphasize that this is NOT universal for all users. When I design a sound, I often am quickly manipulating parameters in multiple windows, and I also typically have an oscilloscope and frequency analyzer app running too. My personal answer to serious sound design with Zyn is buy more screen real estate. That's just me. I want as much info available at a glance as possible, and I'm willing to spend pixels to get that. I guess this is a long winded way of saying the choice between a modal single window interface, and a multiwindow interface should be left to the end user. I should add that you'll get no argument from me that the sequence of clicks to change, for instance, a wave form in a kit element's ADvoice is certainly cumbersome; we can do much better here.

I wasn't going to say anything because I didn't think there was anyone else with this view. However, I too like to have a scattering of windows around the desktop (and multiple desktops), I would also hope this would be a user choice.
