Control surfaces are maturing to the point that the on-board logic does not require as much software on the computer.
A control surface that auto-sense parameters, that map knobs and sliders, to parameters, instead of having to manually do it all....Wow.
Combine that with an application like ZynAddSubFX, well, super wow.
