filter envelope paramterer

for the values in the control knob and the vertical axis in the filter envelope, are we controlling the amount of the filter?
or am i controlling the frequency?

i'm suspecting the latter, because when i have low pass on, i'm bringing DOWN the control point in the envelope editor to make the sound warmer.

The envelope certainly controls the frequency of the filter. But I'm not sure by what you would call amount, as the filter is in series with the signal... not in parallel.
