ADT - Artificial Double Tracking

The ADT technique was developed at Abbey Road Studios by engineers recording the Beatles in the 1960s. To free John Lennon from having to sing everything twice for real double tracking they came up with an artificial replacement: they sent the original signal to another tape machine and re-recorded it. Due to the physical distance between record and playback heads the new signal was delayed. The length of the delay depends on the tape speed (the slower the tape is running the longer it takes for the signal to travel from the record to the playback head). However, due to the machine's (small amounts of) Wow and Flutter the delay time was not fixed but varied slightly, giving an additional chorus-like effect.
The ADT Plug-In takes a mono input signal and creates a stereo output. The original input signal will be output on one channel the new ADT signal on the other. Blending the two is also possible. The Plug-In allows to control the delay time (10 - 50ms), Wow and Flutter (both with intensity in % and frequency). All values are based on the technical data of the tape machine that was originally used to create this effect. Take a look at a screenshot.

Thanks, had never heard of this one. Looks pretty good, will try it out later.

Can I ask - what is it 'incredible' in comparison with?

Most of these things tend to be nothing more than a glorified chorus effect tbh.

Yes , it's working well. The problem that would happend with a small static delay mixed with the dry signal ( feedforward comb effect ) is not present at all.

Thanks for the link..been looking for something along these lines.

I once saw a guy catch, in his mouth, a grape that had been thrown the length of a football field. I said "that's incredible!" and never felt the need to add any comparitive qualification to the statement.
I could have said:
"that act of incredibleness really set you apart from the non-thrown grape catchers of the world"
or
"that grape catch was incredible, much moreso than the watermelon catching guy who got killed last week"
Fact is it just wasn't necessary. People knew what I meant.

This and the other plugin on that site sure look worth checking out!

Wow this sounds really good and has very good control. IMO it kicks Waves Doubler out of the water as an authentic voice doubling effect!

Thanks for the link :tu:

Logic successfully validated this plug-in but it doesn't show up!
Anyone know how to use this in Logic?

Thank you.

Incredible plugin! And free!!! IMO, better, than Waves Doubler and much better, then Avox Duo (which have audible artifacts).

Logic just isn't incredible enough to deal with this plugin. :hihi:

I also installed the vst version in the corresponding folder and rebooted my mac to no avail, looks like it's not possible to use this one in Logic!?

I'm not very happy with the Waves Doubler and I really wanna try this!
