(actually, I'm sitting in the middle of a Javascript class right now...otherwise, I'd be coding instead of making interweb funnies)
They have DSP classes in Javascript now? That is so hip. Mac people really are much more hip and cool. Wish I could fill out a black turtleneck like that. :D

ANYWAY...

Here's a few more audio demos of ValhallaShimmer. These are based on Krakatau's e-piano track:

http://www.anak-krakatoa.net/~downl/misc/0.mp3

The first example is the BlackHole preset:

http://www.valhalladsp.com/sounds/Valha ... ckHole.mp3

The next sound emulates the Bloom presets on the Alesis Midiverb II, but with modulation and a far longer fade-in:

http://www.valhalladsp.com/sounds/Valha ... gBloom.mp3

Finally, here's the reverb in smallStereo mode, with dualReverse pitch shifting at 0.05 semitones, a fair amount of modulation, high diffusion, and a smallish size. This reminds me of the artifacts found in some of the earliest time-varying reverb algorithms, like the Ursa Major Space Station - not the same type of artifacts, but similar amounts of rapid and chaotic detuning in the reverb decay:

Time to go back to swearing at VisualStudio...

The audio demo's seem like a nice touch, but I'm not going to listen to them...

If the Windows demo works without too much CPU usage, then I'll buy within minutes, so...

Back to the swearing.... :hihi:

here's a track i did with your reverb (although my friend got the specifics of it wrong when he posted the tune). i need to try another idea where there is more room and less going on (so you can really hear it):

macbook pro 2.88 GHz Intel Core Duo, 10 gigs ram, 750GB HD, Logic Studio 9

This is an absolutely wonderful song, but the drums are almost an insult to it sensitivity IMO !

haha, I never said it worked. it was supposed to start falling apart at the end and that's what I came up with. thanks though, I think I will probably re-mix it in a more ambient fashion.

Agree. Maybe use some tribal type ethnic percussion instead of the rock drum kit.

Just a quick update: I figured out where my bugs were in the Windows code. There is a part of my code where I allocate memory. At some point, I increased the amount of memory I needed - but since I was working on the Mac, I did it on the Mac side, and forgot to increase the allocation for the Windows code. It was throwing all sorts of crazy heap allocation errors on the PC, or using 300% of the CPU, or displaying the wrong GUI, or just sounding off. Anyway, I've fixed that. ValhallaShimmer is now working on Windows.

The next step is to optimize the Windows code. Things are working, but the CPU usage is too high for my standards. Fortunately, there are only a few functions to optimize in my vector library. I hope to have the code out to beta testers (and the few people that accidentally bought the plugin for OSX that thought it was available for PC) in the next few days.

Thanks for your patience. I look forward to ValhallaShimmer for Win VST/RTAS being released soon.

Good news on the Windows front: I just sent a beta of the Windows VST of ValhallaShimmer to existing Shimmer customers and beta testers. Once I get the go-ahead that it works for people, I'll put the Windows 32-bit VST up for sale.

So, Shimmer customers: Check your email!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss!!!

Wake up and listen to the Voice of ValhallaSound, beta-testers, you slackers, who we all envy in the most recursive fashion, get your rubber stamp out and approve this build, pronto!
