I totally agree in every word. Softube CL1B is 400$ and this Molot compressor is amazing, even more versatile and i am finding it better then CL1b (still like CL1B it's unique too).BFunKu wrote:Like I said many pages ago the Molot compressor has more character and character like NO other compressor I have ever used hardware or software! That says a lot considering I've used hundreds of compressors both hardware and software with lots of character in my life. Not to mention the Molot compressor just sounds damn Great and it really does sound like a vintage analog compressor. The developer of the Molot compressor could of very easily made it commercial release.

Molot is wonderful, thanks and kudos to the developer!
One question - can you make a separate VST version for OSX with only russian labels?
BTW how did you make that VU? It looks superb (is it using subpixel rendering??)

It's not very CPU heavy really... at 2x upsampling (bottom-right knob) it hovers around 1% CPU use on my dual-core i3 laptop. It's half a percent with no upsampling (1X) and less than 2.5% with 8x. How is that CPU heavy?

Thanks a lot for your kindly replies! I was busy a lot last month to do something useful with this plugin.
Check this:

Only Windows version is there but soon I'll update for Mac too.
For Mac users:

I didn't have a time to do something with this test version but I have plans to make VST fully working on Mac.Spitfire31 wrote:...the Mac VST test version is rejected by Twisted Wave 1.9.1 and DSP Quattro 3.5.1 and doesn't appear in either Live 7 or the latest Plogue Bidule. AFAIK...
I think I should make the EN/RU switch working in Mac version (now it works only on Windows).tetsuneko wrote:One question - can you make a separate VST version for OSX with only russian labels?
No. I did real photos (see http://vladgsound.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/04b.jpg), image processing and got 141 images of meter animation. I'm not GUI expert so I did it very straightforward.tetsuneko wrote:BTW how did you make that VU? It looks superb (is it using subpixel rendering??)
It is possible to do some kind of "Molot Pro" commercial version with manual SSE2 optimizations to reduce CPU usage (and some another features). In current version there's no optimizations in DSP code.NAS wrote:...it is rather CPU heavy, a factor that currently still plays in commercial releasesBFunKu wrote:The developer of the Molot compressor could of very easily made it commercial release.

I think the new GUI is definitely better and adds a more professional finish!
The LIMIT light looks better on the original but apart from that great job Miro!!

Very nice improvement. I like the look of the older darker version but the lighter version provices more contrast and allows for easier viewing of the markings. That's a neat idea about the various photos for a very realistic VU meter. Great job!

I replied on your blog but it didn't stick. So again, thanks for osx vst version. I work with live 8.2.2 on both pc and mac so it's great when i can stick to vst's and share projects between daw's.

Molot windows version was updated to 0.2.155. Mac version will come soon.
http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/downloads/
What's new:
NOTE: As the number of VST parameters was changed some DAWs I beleive don't handle right the plugin upgrade in existing projects. So be careful! (I checked plugin upgrade in Cubase only and it works fine!)
Molot was initially designed for input levels of -12 dbFS so you have 12 dB of headroom. If you have your levels for 0 dbFS or even more than that Molot can distort your sound. It is sometimes pleasant sometimes not. Now we have input gain control and built-in saturation can be turned off or set to be independent from ratio value. Also can place limiter at the end of signal chain or turn it off if you dislike it.

What's new:
Code: Select all
New skin from Miroslav Pajic <info@miropajic.com>
New parameters (showed by clicking triangle in the bottom left corner):
"Input" - input gain setting
"Lim" - limiter control:
"Pre" - compressor -> limiter -> EQ -> Makeup -> Dry Mix
"Post" - compressor -> EQ -> Makeup -> Dry Mix -> limiter
"Off" - no limiter
"Sat" - saturator control:
"Ratio" - linked with "Ratio" control. The more ratio the more saturation
"On" - saturator is on (saturation is less than in "Ratio" mode)
"Off" - saturator is off
"Bypass" - if "on" signal is bypassed all processing except "Input" gain
Dithering noise level at high sample rate settings slightly increased.
