Andy, when we can expect final release?

Post

What RW filter is the ladderT supposed to emulate?

All going well the final release should be in around 2 months from now. All the R&D is done so the remaining tasks have no risk - they are just cleanup and things I've been putting off until I finished all the models.

The LadderT is short for transistor ladder. The PRD is to hint at it being based on the Prodigy. I've increased the dc blocking capacitor values (to pass more bass) and also modified the circuit to include no loss of bass with resonance increase, but otherwise it uses the same components and values as in the original circuit.

I've done the final level matching and de-clicking code so here is a little example of switching between all the different low pass filters with the same baseline playing:

And a better quality mp3 of the same:

Looking forward, as always ;)

Some more progress news for everyone. I've been working hard on optimisations on all the filters.

On my machine at 44.1khz cutoff 800 hz, resonance 75% the current filters take (edit: this much of a single core on my 2.8 GHz Xeon)

Code: Select all

                LP2 LP4
Sallen Key MS2 3.0% 6.0%
Cascade SH 10.5% 10.5%
The new filters take:

Code: Select all

               LP2 LP4
StateV OSR 2.25% 4.5%
SallenK MS2 1.5% 2.75%
SallenK MS1 2.0% 4.0%
Cascade SHJ 2.75% 2.75%
LadderT PRD 1.5% 1.5%

               HP2 HP4
StateV OSR 2.25% 4.5%
SallenK MS2 1.75% 3.25%
SallenK MS1 2.5% 5.25%
Cascade SHJ 4.75% 4.75%
LadderT PRD 3.5% 3.5%
So that is a x2 speedup for the Sallen Key MS2 and a x4 speedup for the Cascade SH :)

I'll hopefully have this build in peoples hand in the next two weeks, and the v1.0 finished by the end of March / start of April.

What are your machine specs?
Those figures look really good!
Amazon: why not use an alternative

My Machine is a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. These figures are calculated by running the plugin with the filter switched off at x4 oversampling to get a baseline measure of cpu, then switching on the filter and dividing the difference by 4.

That's great news and impressive work Andy

Just for the record: Which OS, host, soundcard and buffer settings did you use?
