Hopefully IK get back to me soon with a solution. I posted about this on their support forum too.

Uac off in the control panel on win8/8.1 doesn't actually kill it fully like it did on win7, merely silences all warnings

Try this ( side effect is it kills the metro apps but doubt that will worry you )

You sir, are a legend!!! That totally did the trick. No need to run REAPER as admin and Amplitube works. I did have to enter the license codes for some of my plugins but once done, everything is working! This is GOOD! Thank you! :tu:

Yeah. Doesn't bother me not having metro apps running. I actually prefer them NOT running to be honest. Nor is the IE10/11 thing an issue for me. I use Chrome and Firefox and occasionally use IE to check compatibility when doing web design work. IE still runs fine here for that purpose.

Ok, so one have to hack windows that it loses all its security functions to run IK software properly ?

Not good enough. IMO. Tail, wag dog.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

Either way, support should be able to help as I've been told that AmpliTube and T-RackS haven't required anything to be run as Admin for a very long time.

That, I find oddly conflicting to what I was told when trying to resolve my past issue. Their insistence that it must be run as admin and it must be installed on the C: drive was pretty much a constant in their communications to me.

I do believe at this point that it has more to do with multi-core function than admin/uac rights though.

It should only have to do with the legacy VSTi. That was probably a step in troubleshooting your specific issue, solved in another way as you have noted. Support will help in this case.

Really? Well, that's something I didn't know.

IKM legacy VSTs work fine on any drive I put them on (and still do on the E: drive - and I run everything as admin on that computer). My issue was only with TRacks and Amplitube3 (x64 or x86), which wouldn't work on any drive in either Win7 or Win8.1. The solution was waiving my transfer fee so I wouldn't lose as much when I sold it.
In the same vein, I had to admit defeat with Presonus Notion and remove it also since it had the same behavior (as the x64 IKMs) and would only work by disabling all but 2 cores in my system. Keeping my fingers crossed that STank3 will not join that club.

It'll be the virtualization side of uac that's breaking things ( see http://blogs.windows.com/windows/archiv ... ction.aspx for details of what goes on behind the scenes ) - personally I reckon the tiny increase in system security isn't worth the amount of grief it still causes with software ( if I want real safety I run stuff in a vm or sandbox )

Yeah, it might be off topic but it seems to me that unless there is something pressing about using 8.1, win7x64 is the defacto OS. I don't have issues like this. But that is not to say that they don't exist.
