first i would say try using less distortion, mixing is about space and contrast. the song would sound better with cleaner drums and bass for example, if you want to distort the hell out of the guitars. it's the difference in sounds, that's where the power comes from.Dean Aka Nekro wrote:http://www.mediafire.com/?8wf7a985r1s5zw1
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I just don't usually comp so much to have a large pallet of compressors. I have some. Some IK singles, busspressor (which I JUST LOVE) and I'm trying the NI/softube ones currently.
Too many different directions with this imho. Much talk in many threads about aliasing (which I just don't hear) and it's really hard to get something that does what it's supposed to w/o the hype.
I like a dash of this, and a sprinkle of that vs killing/squashing. Mild limiting and some master EQ (if anything is worth doing that too) on the back end and walla! I DO like smashed stuff as an EFFECT Saturn is a great example of being able to squish in a fun and pleasing way.
I wish I could understand more about "real world" vs "blurp". Seems many comp users are squishers and want squishy squished stuff........which is fine if that is what you like, but it's not for me. I don't want louder, I want "enhanced"

My Go-To Comps:
The Glue (Cytomic)
Pro-C (FabFilter)
Black 76 (IK)
VC 2A (NI)
FG Comp (Slate)
Major Tom (Stillwell)
Ozone5 (Izotope)
I'm looking at the Slate VBC's and the NI Varicomp next.
I would use DensityIII if there was a 64 bit version...

wow what a crappy mix !!!
Lol there is nothing between 200hz and 500hz.
the only bass there is unintelligible Sub-bass
Whoever mixed this was listening to the track Waaaay too loud. He was only hearing the The Fletcher and Munson effect
the guitar Buries everything like white noise going "rHaaaaaaaa" can't even even hear notes or chords. lol the guitar sounds like a stuck wah-wah.
we can barely hear the vocal Much less whatever he's saying.
and there is no dynamics its either ON or Off
I hope you didnt Mix this.
It is absolutely sussposed to sound like that. Yeah I played everything on it whilst tracking it and then (un-)mixed it. It has no dyanamics because it mean't to have none all or nothing. I could not care any less whether yourself or anybody else is not into it. It is but one small project of my own which is done out of pure self-satisfaction and as a tribute to a few bands I really like and one especially where the guitar player/vocalist died way too young. Only damned reason I posted it was as an answer to a question you asked. So you do not like it and @midnight thinks using less distortion n' stuff would help...In most cases I would whole heartedly agree but in this one project/case its not the point. Reffering to it as "White Noise" is an absolute compliment to me FWIW. If you do not like it at all then cool and Marco if you think that is how I track and mix every project I have been a part of then sadly you'll be very mistaken

+1 for Nightshine. Simply incredible of kicks, snares, 808 and low frequences period. The only compressor I have that doesn't make the low end smaller. Very very underrated and well done!

I would consider Trash 2 a specialty compressor with the ability to color the sound in some very interesting ways.

I find the Studio One compressor quite good and never looked at much else other than the DC1A.
