How about Valet (Valhalla Delay) as your next plugin :nudge: nudge:

I don't smoke a lot of weed but when I do it usually encourages me to muck about with music but when I'm stoned I have even less patience then normal for tools that are overly complicated. I just want to make sounds.

Which leads me to V3 vs übermod. V3 instantly became a go-to plugin. I only had to demo it for a couple of minutes before I needed it in my life. I've downloaded the demo for übermod a bunch of times but whenever I launched it I always ended up scratching my head, closing the plugin and using a delay or chorus I actually understood. I know there are great sounds hidden away in übermod but I'd rather spend my music making time using simple plugins that instead of being tweakable in every possible fashion are already set to awesome.

The point being that I still want a Valhalla BBD delay because I know it'll rock but I just don't want übermod. I'd love a weird spring reverb plugin too if it can be done but I haven't heard one that really sounds like a spring yet let alone sounding like my ekdahl moisturizer.

I don't want to come across like I'm against complex plugins where you can disappear under the hood for a week and figure out a way to get it to spit out a stream of zombie unicorns but I want to stand up for all of the stoned idiots like me who want great sounding plugins too
VERY eloquently stated, toast. I'll have a more in depth reply later on.

:hihi:
I would need to do more research into compressors and limiters to make it worth my time, and to make it worthwhile for people to buy my stuff. This is an area where there are a LOT of smart folks. I could come out with a compressor plugin pretty quickly, but would it be as good as, say, The Glue? If not, then why would people buy my stuff, versus Andrew Simper's awesome work? I know that there are plenty of other examples out there, but Andrew's stuff was the first to come to mind.

Several years back, I worked on a brickwall limiter that was pretty good, but I don't know if it offers anything not already done by the Waves L2 or UA Precision Limiter. I'd want to have time to research things, so I could bring fresh stuff to the table.

Spring reverbs are a bit more up my alley. So are a lot of other weird effects that I am looking into, in order to "cleanse my palate" after VintageVerb.

Dind't want to hurt your potted-project-head, I was just trying to match the PUNishment to the aural crime. Altho...Maui Wowie is kinda catchy for a BBD plugin. Or Wacky Terbacky for a niche slapback product. Or Valhalla Doradilla for a smokey ambience or Valhalla Wet: a send-only reeferverberator.

Please excuse my wine tomb, have to go make a grape remix of the House of the Riesling Sun. :help:
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

A bit of personal history about the two plugins:

ValhallaÜberMod started off as ValhallaChorus. The base C++ files are still called "ValhallaChorus." While writing the plugin, I kept finding interesting ways of tweaking the sound. I had figured out with ValhallaRoom a good method of adding parameters without cluttering the top level interface, so I used this method to add a bunch of parameters I thought sounded good. I don't want to use the phrase "self indulgent," but I wouldn't use the phrase "moderation" in conjunction with the ÜberMod development process. Plus, I was drinking a few pots of coffee a day, and was totally tweaked out as a result.

ValhallaVintageVerb was designed from the get go to be simple to use, above all other considerations. If I could replace 5 controls with 1 control, I did it, even if that restricted the possibilities. If ÜberMod was a DX7, VintageVerb was designed to be a TB-303. This design direction came from feedback about ÜberMod, as well as seeing how engineers used hardware reverbs in the studio.
The point being that I still want a Valhalla BBD delay because I know it'll rock but I just don't want übermod. I'd love a weird spring reverb plugin too if it can be done but I haven't heard one that really sounds like a spring yet let alone sounding like my ekdahl moisturizer.
There's a poll/thread about a dedicated Valhalla delay plugin in the Valhalla DSP subforum:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=372821

I haven't participated in this thread, other than to vote "Ubermod already does this," but it is interesting that others have brought up this idea of a simpler Valhalla delay. The tricky part is how to make it powerful enough to get mindbending sounds, without overloading it with controls.

You raise a fair point: If my goal is to create a plugin that produces & enhances altered states, it wouldn't hurt if it was useable by people when they have entered into altered states.

This would certainly make beta testing a more interesting experience.

As a direct result of "testing" the Sanctuary betas I ended up with a greatly improved appreciation of what UberMod has to offer.

Sanctuary has great chorus.

Turns out UberMod does chorus on vocals really well too and can be used instead of reverb to make vocals sit really well in the mix.
Sanctuary and UberMod together (in moderation) can be very cool.

All things in moderation

i always thought the general consensus was that you be the guy to build the one delay to rule them all....for us ilok-dodgers it would stop the muted, but nevertheless ceaseless, nagging call towards 'echoboy'

ubermod may be a great delay, but it seems heavily weighted towards chorus and verb (though i haven't spent much time with it)..maybe those calling for a simpler delay just mean for it to concentrate on delay...think ubermodded (sorry, couldn't resist) 'freqecho'

UberMod is indeed a great delay, and a chorus, and a phaser and a flanger and a crazy glitch machine and a great reverb, everything in between and more....

Here is a rather simple, temposynced UberMod delay (8Tab) sending one of my Diversion bell patches into it, demo starts dry:

The preset:

<ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.1" presetName="Nice Dotlay" Mix="1" Depth="0.451000005" StereoWidth="0.535000026" Delay="0.524399996" Feedback="0.620999992" Spread="0" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.219999999" Random="0" TapGain="0.591666639" Diffusion="0.0759999976" DiffSize="0.0204081628" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.5" LowCut="0.0603015088" HighCut="0.712060273" SpatialXover="0" DetuneRate="0" DetuneDepth="0" VibratoRate="0.0160400998" VibratoDepth="0.0240000002" OverMod="0.0323232338" DriveInGain="0.333333343" DriveOutGain="0.75" DriveNoiseGain="0" FeedbackRotate="0.467999995" SmoothingTime="0.0157157164" ColorMode="0" DelaySync="0.529411793" type="0.25" DiffEnable="0" Drive="1" DrivePrePost="0" Speed="0" InputPan="0.125"/>

Ahh, ok - I updated the demo, the first 4 bars are now dry.

haha, are you always 'on'...that was uber-quick....was hoping that was what uber was doing....
...aside from not being a flanger, chorus, or phaser kinda guy (therefore being a whole lot of overkill), i did find the whole thing a little confusing......i guess i should try it out more

thanks for that :D

If all the options confuse you, maybe just start with a simple preset as a template and take it from there. Basically turning down the depth-knobs on the MOD-page will give you plain simple delays without any pitch modulation, either temposynced or ms based. For ping-pong-delays choose either Left/Right Input on the WARP-page.
