No papers. It's just how I always (xx years) wanted a compressor GUI to look, and now I wanted to implement it for the Radium music editor. Turned out that the interface I had in my head wasn't very practical, but with some modifications, I ended up with the current design.DaveGamble wrote:Well it's certainly pretty.
Is there any research that prompts this UI design?
Perhaps users configuring this vs a 5-knob interface, then a blind team comparing results?
I've spent an awfully long time thinking about how to visualise dynamic processes, which culminated in the adaptive-law time series in Compassion (with which you can 'push' a signal over the threshold and then 'pull' down the ratio, and colour is used to visualise the GR attack/release).
Always interested in these things. Are there any papers on this I could read?
Dave.
I've heard lots of good stuff about your compressor by the way, and someone also recommended me to look at it, when they heard I was making my own compressor (radium compressor was already finished back then though).
