Reason: It's a reverb. It's free and it sounds very good.

Shimmer is not free.
Best free reverb for huge rooms is SignalDust AbstractChamber. The sound is on par with Valhalla Room, it just has a few less parameters to tweak.

'fraid ValhallaShimmer isn't free...
Good old Ambience is still very good, freeze function can be put to good ambient use.
Epicverb covers most bases, sounds great. The button to add 10 seconds to the reverb time is useful.

I still get a lot of use out of Reaktor's Spaceverb. These days, about the only thing that I do is live ambient, we call it, "Jambient", ok, enough about me, that music sucks anyway, but Spaceverb(2), yeah!

Freeverb3 is awesome too. Check out the Hikibi model. Really lush. And of course NastyDLA. Not a reverb but a Chorus/Delay unit. Very creamy.

this is the best hands down. http://www.stw-audio.com/products/reflex-free/
if this guy did an x64 version he would sell tons. i own the full version but only use x64 now.
this is imo better then valhalla shimmer. the guy codes his own modules too. there not made with synth edit stock modules. this reverb gets HUGE.

No link of course, it's an included effect.

Agreed on Spacemaster (although it's only 'free' if you already own Reaktor), and a few other UL reverbs if you search the UL (can't think of the names of any off the top of my head).
