Hey there,
I love the sound of some great Rhodes tones in a rock track, especially if they have a little grit.
What are your experiences with ampsims for these (virtual) instruments? What works best in the context of an electric piano to get a bit of character and bark?
I'm using GSi MrRay73 MkII and Scarbee Mark I for Rhodes tones at the moment, but I'm finding they're a little thin in the built-in amp fx department.

Not sure if you're aware of the Cakewalk Store.
They have a deal on VKFX.
You can even buy individual modules from VKFX.
Here is a link to the European Store (VKFX entry).

I heard about VKFX back in the day, when it was still Scarbee VKFX.
So it's still the number one for ePiano's...
I didn't know you could buy the modules separately these days. That could be a cost effective option since I have good compressors, chorus (Sknote DDD), phaser (Uhbik) and delays.
That would mean getting the Preamp and Amp Modules. Nice sale price as well...
Just to be sure...any other options people are using?

I think in "real life" soemthing like an Fender Twin 65 would be used for Rhodes. So any good emulation of such an amp will work.

I think the Fender Bassman was a bit more popular with Rhodes players.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Another option would maybe be to build a VKFX type rack from assorted plugins that might have a bit more modern algorythms
Something like the ultimate ePianos FX Chain
Maybe something like...
Preamp + Tremolo: ?
Chorus: SKnote DDD
Amp: AmpliTube Fender Twin Reverb '65 model
Overdrive: AmpliTube OverScream / Ignite Amps TS-999
(Tape)Delay: Uhbik-D
Phaser: Uhbik-P / ArtsAcoustic BigRock
(Auto)Wah: ?
Compressor: TRackS Opto Compressor
