I've watched the videos and scanned the manual still had a question that hopefully someone might be able to answer. Using the doppler engine, is it possible to use this just to build risers or tails, or are they always combined? I know I can mute the impacts, but it seems with the doppler effect the sound always starts quite, builds to the peak, and then tails out. Is it possible to cut it off at its peak and using it as a riser? Or conversely just use the tails for something wooshing away from you? Is this possible? I did see the ability to trigger Woosh via midi control in gate mode, which might work for cutting off risers, but what if you wanted to start at the peak and only trigger a tail?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

You might want to check out the manual:

yeah I've gone through the manual, but so far haven't been able to tell. Was hoping a user could answer this question, but so far it looks like this is not possible.

Good question.
The instrument/player seems to have a high quality.
Reduced price atm.

Here is a video-intro. @ 8:11 he scrubs through the sound with mouse or controller...

(listen how he says "ensemble"..weird)

Maybe it's what you want.
.. quite interesting. (seems it is a new feature)

The 'SYM' control under 'Speed Curve' for the Doppler effect controls the Doppler's symmetry. At the centre, the curve is equal on both 'sides' of the centre. SYM tilts it to the left/start or right/end of its playback (the control goes the opposite way, though, it seems).

If the Impact sample is muted, and SYM control is hard-right the effect ramps up then cuts short where the impact would come, with hardly any 'tail'. That, to me, sounds like the 'riser' you're talking about.
If the Impact sample is muted, an SYM control is hard-left, you get your peak first and then the fade out of that.

Mileages slightly vary depending on the actual samples, but I think its in the right territory. Instead of muting the impact, you can drop its volume and offset it to the left or right with 'Position' which might help. Custom samples would also help, most of them intrinsically have a volume envelope of their own.
my other modular synth is a bugbrand

Shape needs to be hard left too for maximum effect.

There's also the overall envelope shape in the mix tab (same as dragging the main window when you don't have 'run' activated).

At the end of the day you'll want to make a clip of the sound you want and play it when needed, so I'm not even sure the OP has thought it through.

lol, I just had so much fun fiddling with Whoosh again. Someone send food if you don't hear from me within a week.

Yeah, I guess worse case I can capture it as audio and trim it to taste. But its nice to know that the sym control can help me at least demo tails only for example. Thanks guys!

I am a user now..
The thing with rises is: It needs a pitch + volume envelope that ..rises.
Woosh has a pitch envelope that always falls, while the volume envelope rises.

I like Battery for sample based rises: One can adjust all envelopes of many samples a once / much control. All you need is sounds. One can fire Maschine-scenes/clips at it.
