I am not going to start a thread about the new PA Lindell TE-100 because it sounds so great. It's very unique and lets you really narrow in on the musical sound of the source, rather than being technical sounding. The GUI is pretty amazing and there are options for resizing and over-sampling. When I read the owner of the hardware had 10 of these c60's I thought that was pretty silly. But after using it I can totally see how you could use this as a channel EQ. On a drum kit it would be amazing.
Anyway, I am not going to post this thread because I don't want people to get this and use it so that my music will stand out more.

Oh crap. I hit the submit button.
OVERVIEW (From plugin-alliance.com)
The original UE-100 EQs are extremely rare but producer/mixer/engineer Rafa Sardina, who has 12 Grammy wins and 35 nominations, owns 10 of them. What is so special about this weird and wonderful device? Read on! For some time, hardware equalizers had to each be developed with a specific purpose in mind, requiring engineers to combine different EQ types in one signal chain in order to achieve the frequency response they needed on any given source. They would have to accept the necessary evil of the resulting phase and intermodulation distortion when treating these sounds. When released in 1961, the Klein & Hummel UE-100 Universal Equalizer changed all that.
This all-tube minimum phase EQ used six discrete filter modules to create a collection of band-pass filters that could create dynamic curves for any application from source mixing to vocal tracking to mastering. While some earlier UE-100s were used to transparently filter out junk low and high frequencies when printing to tape and vinyl, it quickly became commonplace to take advantage of the unique pushbutton frequency selection; this provided an easy way to not only recall settings, but also alter them on the fly while recording a performance. The UE-100 became known for its musically warm curves and precise response, offering a myriad of possibilities for treating frequencies by boosting and/or cutting across the spectrum to shape sounds “like a Pultec on steroids.”
That tube-powered universal sound and innovative behavior from K&H is now available to you in plugin form. The Lindell TE-100 is an exacting emulation of all the sweet and savory frequency treatment offered by the original hardware EQ. Right down to the pushbuttons on the interface and the all-tube filter bypass, the TE-100 re-creates this piece of German audio history with immaculate realism. Only now, a stereo pair won’t cost you upwards of $7,000.
Hone in on your sound with low and high pass filters at each end of the TE-100, then boost at one of four critical frequencies with rounded or high-Q shelf bands to add body and presence. Create dual parametric band-pass filters in the TE-100’s mid section to quickly bring out the true character of your sound. The pushbutton frequency selectors offer a unique way to shape your frequency response by focusing on each corner frequency of a filter and moving those frequencies closer or further apart while letting your ears guide your mix decision.
The TE-100 plugin also adds a few useful extra features that help improve workflow in the digital environment: Maintain full control across a variety of mix situations by taking advantage of level calibration, internal oversampling adjustment, and an analog mode that adds additional tone coloration and noise floor taken from the original unit. Dial in precise gain adjustments in 0.5 dB steps, contrasting the 2 dB to 3 dB resolution available through the knobs of the original hardware. With the Lindell TE-100, the legacy of the original Universal Equalizer can be brought to your DAW in a convenient digital form that stays true to the hardware.

It's impressive indeed. I have so many eqs, including a few from Plugin Alliance. Its tempting to use the valued customer half price code I got for it, but I might have to let this one pass unfortunately.
Didn't Acoustica Audio also emulate one of these??

Like Simon I've got far too many EQs and 'Nicerizers'. So I wasn't all that excited by yet another one.
If I'm being honest - I don't really care if a plugin is from the 60's 70's or 80s. I only care about sound. Yes, I'm an exquisitely empty person.
However, I did watch the video demo, and listened to the soundcloud audio clips. I liked what I heard and checked out the demo. After an hour are two I bought the plugin. I think it sounds great on a wide variety of material. It add a very nice sound and the EQ is very musical. Worked well on my electronic stuff as well as my heavy guitar stuff.
Admittedly, I'm a bit of a plugin alliance fan - but not of their prices. So, I was surprised to see this was at $149. Luckily I tried the demo for a few hours. Because I was about to hop on it, and then i received the discount email from PA. And it was a pretty generous to previous customers.
That's the type of company service I like... Keep doing stuff like that and I'll start buying plugins again.
So, I'd recommend checking the demo. A very bizarre looking interface but it's actually ez to use.

Considering plugins can just about model 1 tube accurately,i highly doubt they could model 14 tubes in a ridiculously complex circuit
Some Nebula programs are the closest i have personally heard to getting ALL of the tube sound ITB and even still, that is some ways off(obviously because it is just samples),algorithmic plugins still generally sound and behave like glorified waveshapers to me, bar a very few
I'll check this plugin based on what it is (just a plugin that may or may not sound good) and not what it isn't (an EQ driven by 14 tubes with transformers)if i wanted that, that is exactly what i would get.i'm not naive enough to assume i could get that sound (probably never will) (especially this ridiculous example)ITB and i mean everything that or the potential device has to offer in terms of the full range of its sonics, not just its "modelled"non-linearity,which seems to be enough to get a pass here and other budding music production forums almost regularly
The endless hyperbole in the marketing of this stuff becomes seriously tiring and tedious to listen to after all these years i can't be the only one who sees through this crap.....if you legitimately want a tube sound, buy something with tubes in it,as you are certainly not going to get ALL (keyword) that sound has to offer via a plugin.as this rather well written piece of marketing is purporting (mini rant)

I'm not really an "eq" guy, and like others, I have quite a few and like them all. But, this looks unique enough that I'll probably give it a whirl.
149 is a fair price I think, but I'm not really in the market to spend 149 right now.
If it's hungry though I'll be turned off immediately. Being able to use one instance helps nobody

I feel the same. I've very cynical/skeptical of any such marketing speech (I take it with a barrel of salt). They all do it as well some are worse then others.
But overall I generally do like PA'a stuff (but some of their plugs are highly over priced imo).

Their promotion not 1 size fits all (sometimes), occasionally making it rather weird. There was at least one time where everyone gets a different coupon amount in the past.
Have no hard proof but probably base on how much you own/spent with them. 50% off is probably max, which is less than the discount on their ALL bundle sadly.

My offer was $75 making it $74 to buy (USD). I own almost all the PA plugins.softska wrote:Their promotion not 1 size fits all (sometimes), occasionally making it rather weird. There was at least one time where everyone gets a different coupon amount in the past.

I am using the TE-100 on a tune now, 16 instances of it, one on each track. I own many EQs and the TE-100 is one of the most useful (so far). Once I have the mix done I'll post it. I have a previous version of the mix without the TE-100s as well.

As far as I understand these EQs are for some specific use? I mean, the low boost (a bell curve) there is at 85 HZ. Many modern kicks are picking at 50-60 Hz and that is where we may boost even more. But with this one you cannot do this.
