Im glad you all enjoy the list and find it usefull, hopefully as sims and such come out we can keep the list updated

BEAUTIFUL!!!!! This is great! At this moment, the only things I would suggest to improve upon this already great list, would be the following:sXeSkiddz2005 wrote:Well here we go, the most complete list of VST Amp sims we can compile all together to make finding the right sim your looking for that much easier! Hopefully you all find this helpful and if you create or know of any new or old amp sims not on the list make a post so we know and i can add it to this list
Okay so heres the list we've got put together so far. Keep adding if you know any and ill add them to this list!!
I've Added a key to show wich are commercial and free and non VST Hope this helps a little.

1. I think Revalver is a non-VST effect--It needs the (N) added to it. I think it is a DX only effect. (Maybe the non-VST effects could have a code for them too...At least DX/DXi effects...I don't know...maybe it's fine as it is right now, but it would be nice at least for DX instruments, since many hosts host the older/dying dx format, and some effects may only be DX...but then again....) <sheepish grin>
2. I think Little Green Amp has been removed by Wurr audio's developer, and unlikely to be brought back in the same form--maybe as something new and different though... Maybe it would be good to have a section at the end of the list of the amps we know have existed in one form or another, but are missing in action, or the web sites are unknown. That way, the main part of the list shows only the known working links, and we, as a community, can easily see the links that are MIA or in need of a little community detective work to find. Also, maybe a status of the missing amp can be given to help tell what is known or unknown... For example:
WidgetAmp1 (by "X" developer)--Gone out of business
SillyAmp (Open Source project) -- Need web link
SuckyAmp (by "Y" developer-- coder hated it/erased it
NewAmp (Rumored new development) Need link and info
etc.
etc.
etc...
Overall, this is really great, and as more people notice that this thread is just growing and getting longer, it will be recognized by the community in general as the ultimate place to get guitar amp/general amp links. Anyone remember the RGCAudio SFZ-related ultimate soundfont link list here at KVR?

After giving it some thought, what if you gave the following codes?
(V) VST/VSTi
(D) DX/DXi
(C) Commercial
(F) Free
(N) Non VST or DX (Rewire, Creamware, some other card-
based software amp, non-plug-in guitar amps, RTAS,
etc., etc., etc...)
They could be coded as such:
(F,D) for Freeware DX/DXi
(C,V) for commercial VST/VSTi
(F,N) for a standalone non-plugin guitar amp
(C,N) for something like the amp made by creamware
etc.
etc.
etc...
Any way, that's just my ideas and suggestions. And besides, $0.02 isn't worth much these days.

There's also 'Chorrosive' by BetaBugs (http://www.betabugsaudio.com/plugs.php). Whilst it's not a traditional ampsim, it has a strong element of ampsim in it (tube distortion), as well as on board chorus and a low tuned bandpass.
It's not as adaptable as other offerings, having just one knob, but using automation or a default GUI the other parameters can be accessed, just follow it with a touch of reverb, and you're away. It's currently my first choice when finding a lead sound.
Must confess to a little bias here, in that I wrote it! But do go and try it!

Yea i liked your guys' ideas. I went ahead and updated the key a bit and added chorrosive and Slayer Slayer is good i like Slayer 2's FX plugin its pretty sweet. Im downloading Chorrosive right now to try it out.
I didnt add GT Player however cause its not so much an amp sim just so much a VST player like RT Player Pro. From what i understand it just plays the VSTs you have and comes with DSounds StompnFX bundles. So thats not really much of a amp. I wanta try and keep only Amp Sims on the list so i didnt add it.

Wurr Audio has (Little) Tube Booster as a freeware VST. It is supposedly a Tube preamp.

Sorry, but Little GreenAmp II WAS totally free but there IS still a copyright (by me)
Please wait for the next version of a Little (Colored)Amp.
I hope it will be available in a few months for little money.
Cheers, Patrick

So it looks like it is official that the developer removed Little Green Amp. Sounds like he felt it was too good to give away for free.

Here's some things I found. I can't vouch for their value, but at least we'll have a "complete" amp list.
Jesusonic-Guitar software for the enlightened: http://www.jesusonic.com/soft.php standalone for PC or Mac or Linux. (Contains Amp model and distortion sims and effects) Also a Direct-X alpha plugin is included. It appears to be being actively developed (last updated on July 15, 2005). It appears to be free too.
--------------------------
GuitarFX™ guitar software (it's on the market since 1997!) enable you to turn your computer into a guitar effects processor. Simply plug your guitar into the microphone or line input of your sound card, run this software, then press "Start" button. To stop playbacking pre-recorded guitar sounds click once on a picture of a small red lamp placed left to fx-slot with "Playback wav" title. Enjoy real-time crazy distortion smoothed by power filters and shaped by multi-band equalizers! Author of GuitarFX™ offers several presets, including "hard rock", "high gain lead" and "solo" effects. However, you can click through several menus to easily create custom tones. They can be saved as pre-sets for future use. Pre-sets can be assigned to "hot keys" F1..F12. Among the effects, you can apply 4 types of distortion, noise gate, wah-wah, compressor, EQ, flanger, reverb, chorus, delay and a number of other filters and effects. You can save your recordings to your hard drive. GuitarFX has the "software effects chain builder" with 16 fx slots. Clean guitar signals go to the top fx slot, then they are passed through all fx slots from the top to the bottom and go to the sound card output from the bottom fx slot. You can move any fx slot up. To do this place your mouse cursor on the top part of the appropriate "Tune" button and then do right mouse button click. Also you can move any fx slot down. To do this place your mouse cursor on the low part of the appropriate "Tune" button and then do right mouse button click.

This software effects unit appears to be shareware and contain amp effects. It is a standalone software for Windows.

Cakewalk: AmpSim (Audio FX2 plug-in)

This one was bundled with Cakewalk's sequencer/multrack software packages. I believe it was also sold as part of the Audio FX2 bundle. I don't know if it is sold anymore.
----------------------
Tech21/Bomb Factory: SansAmp PSA-1 Plug-in
I don't know if this software or company exists anymore. From what I remember, the company was composed of a bunch of rude elistists who put down everyone else's software. I even remember a group of people who tried to start a boycot of the company. It would be interesting to find out what became of the company.

Gojkovic - Guitar FX Box
I don't know about this one either. The link I found went to a sex page.
It was a multifx standalone software package that contained overdrive and distortion amp sims.
