How can I make this shaker-rhythm like in the intro of Alesso’s extended mix of ‘Heroes’ (begins at 0:15)?

I’ve heard them in many other EDM tracks like ‘I could be the one’ from Avicii & Nicky Romero or ‘Love Again’ from Cedric Gervais. They are usually placed in the intro...

Does anyone know how to make them?

Thanks :)

Are you talking about the sound or the rhythm? The sound is a pretty typical shaker and the rhythm is in eighth notes where it is on the second, fourth, sixth and eighth note.

I’m talking about the rhythm… :)

Isn’t there going on more than just eight notes on the second, fourth and so on?

I don’t know maybe a compressor or some differences in the velocity?

Sounds pretty straightforward to me ... second, fourth, sixth, etc ...

Don't forget to use shuffle otherwise it won't sound like in the video. Depending on your DAW you will have to play with it.

Btw, it could also be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, but with different velocities or maybe side-chained.

Is there a shuffle function in Logic Pro 9?

I’ve tried with side-chaining and it sounds pretty close to the video :D

Cool, thank you very much! :)

A shaker sample can be offset. Or a long sample having its own humanized rhythm can sound interesting. Easy trick to liven up electronic drums.

Like the first one here. Beat slice it, just loop one hit, whatever.

There is a swing setting in Logic Pro 9, I know for sure. I used to work in Logic 9 in a studio and I remember it had it. Check on quantization menus in piano roll. There should be something like 16th SwingA to SwingE if I remember right. Try some of them see which has the most similar flow as the one you want.

Yes, I’ve found this function with 16th Swing A and etc. in Logic Pro 9.

Thanks a lot! :tu:
