Hello everyone and greeting from Denmark. I'm having problems with mastering a vocal, and track in general. I have uploaded on "soundcloud" two tracks. One of them is not mastered and other is mastered .
Now i have a question. Can it be because of mixing or i made it worse when mastering or both?
Not mastered

Mastered

As always, thanks for feedback.

What exactly did you do to master it? That might help narrow things down some.

The "not mastered" version sounds like you've slammed it with a compressor (or limiter) ... it's very loud. The "mastered" version sounds like you've added more compression (limiting) but no EQ (hard to say) and totally squashed it.
It would help to know what you mean by "mastered" ...

The mastered version definitely sounds more unnatural. It has way wider stereo image.. too much in fact, at least when listening on headphones. You've also lost a lot of dynamic range which means the drums are a lot less punchy compared to the surroundings.. this is one of the most difficult things to "do right" in modern squeeze-it-all-to-death mastering and is always a massive compromise.
You've also lost a lot of punchy bass. Multiband compression or dynamic EQ? Try setting the attack so that the kicks initial bass punch doesn't get lost..

The first one sounds much much better than the second. Use less compression or whatever you have on there.
The part around 24 seconds, first one, is about right. Whatever happens after that is way too OTT.

Okay guys
what did i use for mastering was Maximus (FL) to compress low, mid, high frequencies and to match the volume.
When i was mixing i was only turning volume up and down so they sound great in the track and i also used multiband compressor to get rid of some mid frequencies because they made distortion i don't know why maybe because i over eq some things.
