Does it write a lot of things into the registry ?
Could users tell the strenghts and nicest features of this editor ?

Does not load in Windows 64 on my Vista sp2 system. Tried to start it by double-clicking and by right-clicking and then clicking on "Run as administrator." In the first instance, there was a long delay, and then a message box appeared saying that Ocean had crashed. The second time, nothing at all happened. The program did not start and there was no error or crash message.

IMO:

1. cross-platform availability
2. file handling, selection etc. (see Ozpeter's posts, above)
3. clean, pleasant interface

Ok, thank you for the replies (i didn't thought about Google Image !)
Indeed, the dispay is clever.

With ocenaudio you can select the channels you want.

Let's take a stereo file as example.
If you start selecting and the cursor is near the top (of the left channel), only the left channel will be select and the right channel will get grayed.
Otherwise if you start selecting and the cursor is near the bottom (of the right channel), only the right channel will be select and the left channel will get grayed.

Here's a screenshot of the latest version of ocenaudio.

No, only few entries for file association and uninstall. All the entries are removed when you uninstall it.

The app crashed.

I understand that what i tried to do was maybe slightly unorthodox and I could wait till I have finished recording before I start editing it but if it is not ment to, the app should not let me select and cut! lol

:)

(this happens every time) Using win 7 64bit. RME FFuc.
Thanks for reporting this issue. We didn't do that operations. For the next release of ocenaudio these operations will be "protected" (disabled) during recording.

You should check if your plugin is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Ocenaudio 64-bit will load only 64-bit VST plugins.

This is awesome, finally seems like a suitable Mac replacement for the lightweight yet powerful Cool Edit. Thanks! I've not properly put it through its paces yet but the GUI looks awesome (my main gripe with Audacity!) and everything seems to work as it should :) Will it always be free or is this an intro thing?

One feature I'd love to see that I miss from Cool Edit is the ability to set the horizontal time unit to bars and beats, and enable snapping, so you can easily load in a loop, set the tempo (by typing it in, or selecting a number of bars and calculating the tempo from time/number of bars) and then cut out individual beats/whatever easily - any chance you might think about this? :)

Cheers!

There are things I like about Audacity* but the interface really isn't one of them; it's just so...utilitarian.

*Such as

- useful playback features: I like the way it makes a distinction between "Play/Stop" [SPACE] and "Play/Stop and Set Cursor" [Shift A, by default]; "Cut Preview" [C] is really useful for editing, and I like the contextual play function
- interesting Nyquist plugs
- .aup files can be opened in a text editor (like Reaper projects), which can be useful

...but I find the whole business of Label Tracks, for instance, really frustrating :? It's never clicked with me.

And I prefer this:

Otherwise if you start selecting and the cursor is near the bottom (of the right channel), only the right channel will be select and the left channel will get grayed

...to having to split a stereo file in two, alla Audacity.

+1

It immediately crashes if I try to load MP3 files in OS X 10.6.8
Orion Platinum, Muzys 2

if these mp3s have by any chance utf16 id3 tags, it might be the reason, I've already sent error report about that, gonna be fixed in next beta

This feature is available in the current version of ocenaudio.
You may select "move the cursor to playback stop position" in preferences pane.

In the current version, we still don't have a implementation for time stretching and pitch shifting :(
