Thanks bro. Something about midi in Live, for long things it is a little cumbersome but for short bits nothing feels as 'right' that I have used. Just the whole grid paradigm is wonderful for organizing snippets of thoughts and trying things out together. I'm not a very linear thinker and this just suits me. I was REALLY dumb for not just upgrading when I had the option before selling my % license. I thought it 'cost too much' but then ended up buying so much other stuff it would have been better to just bite the bullet. Just at the time Ableton didn't seem to be on their game. Short term thinking on my part.

I just continue to use it.

Add a guitar part here, this drum fill here, copy, paste, trigger the parts.....

w/o all the details why I was away, it's fun to be back.

Well guess who just (sort of) got the ok from the wife to buy it? I jumped at the 'black Friday' fever she has, she bought an ipod touch and is likely coming home with a ping pong table soon. She has her kind of ping pong and I have mine :) I am sort of down $24 since I just bought Intro, but it shouldn't be hard to sell for that or at least have a version that I can throw on the living room computer. So no worries about that. I guess I should go make something that can justify the extra plugin instances while I wait for 9 and the very cool audio to midi tools.

...and my wife just stopped by to drop off a new laptop she just bought me. Is it Christmas already?

I'm REALLY loving grouping and especially the drum racks in the mixer, just a fantastic way of handling things. I will have a hard time opening any other drum machine plugin after this. Working in the piano roll, the mixer, with the groove tools, this is just wonderful wonderful wonderful!

Braj, I'm so happy that it's not just me that has found this bliss and that one of my good friends has too.

I have gotten a ___ LOAD of help here too. I've got all these things I work on now. I CAN'T WAIT to get push!!!!!! :wheee:

Post

I need to look at some Push videos, I'm not sure that would be for me but you never know. Gotta check it out.

This is a funny thing with me: I use my DAW more as a practice tool/toy/sandbox as much as i EVER make anything that is 'recorded' and shared with anyone. Live really accommodates that reality, and encourages experimentation. I'm really appreciating the docked native effects, it really keeps distractions and clutter to a minimum, and of course the integration is just great. Live really has come a long way since 5 :) I'm really pleased, I've been playing through a lot of the instrument rack presets and there are great and very musical things in there, I just fine myself jamming out on them a lot. I love AAS' plugins and they are a big component of the 'Ableton' instrument sound, so that's really cool with me. Anyhow, GAS struck hard and fast this time but I think it is for the best :)

See, I tried a "launchpad" and it was.........meh.......with the worst part being it wasn't velocity sensitive. Now, I have maschine. It's pretty terif....but it has some serious flaws.

PUSH (if it works as advertised) is going to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL! So, you'll be able to have all these killer cool things with live, and a control center that will expand to what I personally believe will be nearly unthinkable horizons.

Yes, again, IF IT WORKS is key.

I personally had no idea until about a month ago. I just didn't know. I thought about "intro" but was worried it wouldn't be x64. Once I figured that even my free live 8 was indeed able to test at x64, I took it from there. This is a good place to be. I may personally be more excited than I've ever been. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop BTW

Push looks incredible, but once again the cost is prohibitive to poor little old me. I'd personally like to see something more guitar oriented regarding a controller, something you can hold, something you can have made of wood or something :) so the cost is extra painful since it isn't really my ideal. I DID just get a nanoPAD2 in the mail today :) which I can hold pretty well. I could build some sort of wood body for it maybe, with other parts too of course. Maybe something like the Zendrum, using a couple of nanoPAD2s.

Yeah that looks good, though now 64 bit right? Anyhow I have an SG and should try my best to play my parts myself :) I have Strum to cheat on some basic rhythm parts though :)

Yes. Strum is fun. I'm playing with the Little One from the same developer and it beats my Minimoog Free, for my taste. It sound more tight and juicy.

I so loving Live, just the controller support alone is so cool, I didn't have many buttons when I owned Live previously but now I'm going nuts with my Korg nanos. One thing though that I'm really missing is the ability to compare/edit multiple clip channels in one piano roll. I'm wondering how to best work around this, I don't know if this sort of thing will come to Live anytime soon. Copy/edit variation is one way but anyhow, not a show stopper and Studio One is there in case I really need that functionality. I am considering workflow veterans use though, how do you deal with this sort of thing?

Well i sold Lounge Lizard, so I'm pretty sold on getting the Suite, just a matter of cashflow. I've spent way more than I should have lately so unless someone needs a used copy of Corona, String Studio, iDrum.... what else do I have? Anyhow Live officially has me by the balls now.

I'm deeper into getting now, just sold idrum and strum electric. I still have $160 or so to go before I can afford it. So if anyone needs a copy of Corona or String Studio....

My account says its $299 to upgrade to the Suite. I'm wondering if there is a way to get it even lower. Where do people get coupon codes for Ableton?
