I'm quite happy with what I'm doing in live, but curiosity has got the best of me. I mean, ffs, I own it.......might as well.
I'm loving the combo of Live and Studio One. Start in Live, and move to Studio One to finish and polish everything up and master. S1 is simple enough that even if you only use it occasionally it isn't confounding and confusing. I found myself trying to figure out how to do stuff I had done 5 times before in Reaper for example.

That's how I'm PLANNING to 'finish' something eventually anyhow  I'm going to try and use each for their strengths and as Einstein pointed out, don't expect a fish to climb a ladder.

Does the new version have more flexible midi quantisation? I seem to remember it only allowed a very restricted set of tuples eg no 5:3 or 7:8

Also does it have 'handled' bezier curves for automation?

thanks

I've noticed that in order to select a track you always have to click on the track header on the left. If you click anywhere on the timeline nothing happens. Is there any way around this? You can do it in Reaper and Samplitude and in Sonar X2 double clicking selects a track.

Well, there's nothing on the tracks there. Draw a range or put a clip on the track and select a clip.

Or Shift+Double Click.

seems that most built in effects were updated too as I can see quite a lot of new options here and there so you better check them out too ;)

Oh the live record is brilliant - finally I can record exactly what I play rather than having to rely on imperfect automation and midi and then rendering that.

Cool - you can also set it to prerecord up to a minute and finally automation can be set to record touched params automatically instead of having to set an automation mode in advance (which to me is more natural as I often forget about arming automation when I'm caught up in my playing)

It's like they have been reading all my FRs and decided to give me them for Xmas :)

Now all it needs is some real automation curves

That lacks in some hosts doesn't it? Live 9 has them, but I think even sonar lacks them.

Is Live 9 getting actual bezier curves, not just predefined ones made up of lots of little straight lines like Cubase and Sonar has?

I thought so. Here is a link:

Steer well clear, it'll all go tits up with them brassiere curves.
Just make the music that you enjoy (failing that go for a walk, watch some porn, have a fight with a random bloke until something else happens).
