Every day Daw should have a separate area for getting ideas together unless we can get a VST plug-in

Pretty sure Mulab is good for what you want, create clips that contain the sequence and the vst together.

Logic has folders, reason has blocks, traction has edits, reaper has pips. They al have a space for doodles but i get what the op is saying. A pin board to organize ideas with their own time line and tracks and sticky notes.

Bitwig and Live can store clips and plugin together which can be dragged into projects

samplitudes object based workflow...you can automate objects, you can have vst's in the object, you can freeze an object, you have eq's, volume, pan, crossfade editor, elastic audio, and a lot more, you can loop objects, and with the revolver tracks you can save as many different combinations of objects on one track as you want

Wow, I can't believe that this topic made it three pages without someone mentioning SONAR's Matrix View. It does pretty much exactly what the OP is asking for. It supports MIDI and audio clips, which can be routed back through the tracks in the DAW. You build song sections using columns and then record the triggering of the columns in real-time back into the DAW. BAM! Instant full song! You can then go thru the song and add envelopes, FX, drops, builds etc.
I've used it to produce many projects over the last few years.

Nora can be used too, https://squaredheads.com/programa.php, it's an AL for chords (so it's a chord chopper with "Session View")

But they have varying differences.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Bitwig and Live can store clips and plugin together which can be dragged into projects
First off, I like memyselfandus, but for the love of god.......there IS NO perfect host!
Second, bitwig is closest from what I can gather. Downfalls:
-you can't seem to re-record over midi clips in the clips area (booo!)
-as mentioned, you CAN drag clips back and fourth
-it's not as tight as live when switching scenes though
-but you can quantize, swing, etc with selecting several clips at once!
Did I mention, there IS NO perfect host?

close.. but you can't record into the clips. you have to record your audio or midi elsewhere and then you can drag it in. a must have feature that is missing. for me.downSouthside wrote:Wow, I can't believe that this topic made it three pages without someone mentioning SONAR's Matrix View. Maybe I should read the Sonar manual.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Like ableton an Bitwig but less featuresdownSouthside wrote:Wow, I can't believe that this topic made it three pages without someone mentioning SONAR's Matrix View.
